Attending a small event in São Paulo over the next few days coordinated by Lucas Ferreira and funded by the HRF to coordinate ongoing development of Stepan Snigirev’s embit bitcoin library AND facilitate collaboration among DIY signer/wallet projects (nostr:npub1specterwjwvm74fhyck2fh89z9ctu9uq24u2aegerqkwud0yyxtqtr4qw2 DIY, Krux, & nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl). Am also excited to attend SatsConf here in Brazil this week. Will be sharing more on these events as I’m able. 🧡🚀

Semisol is not the first individual specializing in secure element implementation to arrive at the conclusion that nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl is one of the best approaches to private key management available. Stateless, air-gapped DIY using commodity hardware & reproducible FOSS software is a legit security approach that mitigates the privacy leaks, supply chain risk, and other trust issues that accompany retail hardware wallets. image nostr:note1fg7mlndl49svh2jkj2cqylemzy48739v9txwktawzah90gku3n7s979rm8

So excited to arrive at the finish line with this: . Custom hat materially improves nostr:npub17tyke9lkgxd98ruyeul6wt3pj3s9uxzgp9hxu5tsenjmweue6sqq4y3mgl user experience without changing security assurances . $10 from each HAT split between our lead developer and lead maintainer . HAT & enclosure designs will be open sourced . No external investment or venture funds involved The Waveshare display hat will also be perpetually supported for any users / builders who prefer it. There were multiple shortcuts or alternative approaches that could have made this process quicker, easier, or more profitable but it was important to me to do this in what I felt was the right way. https://btc-hardware-solutions.square.site/ image

Just a reminder that the ability to run arbitrary code should be associated with freedom, not danger. They are trying to convince you of the latter. Cling to your God-given liberties and reject the safety of their walled gardens. nostr:note1dw0ftz5mh5duylyk7l4uhr926n2ud7r7n498yqh6ttl7yaqt7nyqyhum2x

If you accept sponsorship money from HWW companies that act aggressively towards open source projects... AND aren’t sharing your podcast or conference platform with those building DIY/FOSS cold storage tools... There's a question you should maybe be asking yourself. image

If in fact most of the internet is going to be kyc’d, what do you think is going to happen to commercial hardware wallets that are manufactured by state-registered companies? nostr:note1tsvwdhfmuy7wm2gd0elq22qg48ms49wra77g9ysdy6t56hugfzqqmgh0jc

I have to give Odell props for this — today I learned that he still lists SeedSigner as a recommended cold storage option on his personal odell.xyz website. image

Several people have reached out about this. There are apparently at least 10 URLs that were purchased on 5 separate days over a period of 3.5 years, all appear to have the same owner. Some of them seem intended to interfere with our ability to fundraise or accept donations? I honestly could see this sort of thing as a one-off or as a mean joke if you're having a bad day, but the pattern here comes across as something different. Given how many podcasts and conferences his sponsorships touch it feels like behaving this way towards a FOSS project should be a bigger deal? If Nostr is indeed legit with regard to wanting open source to flourish, it seems like this would be of interest here especially. image

This is a big part of why I don’t engage much on Nostr, and some of the “cult leaders” are my most prominent personal critics, so it just doesn’t make sense to be around. nostr:note1vpv3f752tmw04w6ud7asg0jmg9r2ss04wjdjzmqvqqmng723erksvsvnmn
