This episode was super interesting: we delved into what are euro-dollars, petro-dollars and then the infamous NAKA-dollars. Basically dollars outside US banks are not “protected by the FED”, they are outside M2 and they accounted for up to 90% of all international loans. They were born when Soviets wanted to move their dollars from US banks to European ones fearing sanctions in the early 50s (history doesn’t repeat but for sure rhymes..). Then in the 70s payments for oil were structured as follows: an oil importer asked a non-US bank for a loan in dollars, at the same time the oil exporter received it as dollar deposit as payment for the oil. The balance of the banks is 0, they can create as much as they want of this! There is what’s called a maturity mismatch: the loans last years while the deposit could be moved to another bank at any time. This problem brought to life all form of financial tools to make sure the flow of oil continues unhindered. Naka-dollar, as defined by Bitmex Ayes, are just a derivative product which always contains 1USD of bitcoin. This has some super interesting trades behind, but we analyzed how could that be used in the future, when Bitcoin will be too precious to exchange on a daily basis. The #podcast is in Italian 🇮🇹 as there are no macroeconomics podcast for Bitcoiners here (that I know of), there are indeed famous bitcoin podcasts, but they focus either on the tech or on adoption. Very rarely the business or financial side of things is discussed, so that’s the niche we chose with Bitcoin Cabana. What podcast is missing in your region?? View quoted note →

Today in the podcast we discussed Malaysia, home of up to 5% global hashrate! It happens thanks to a combination of: - abundant energy (state owned oil and gas giant company), - above-the-ground infrastructure easy to hijack - availability of ASICs since there’s a Bitmain production factory there. Super interesting, I really enjoy to research new topics and see how Bitcoin fits. We interviewed an Italian expat there and a local Bitcoiner. Next episode will be: euro-dollar, petro-dollar, naka-dollar!

GM ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ Today we do the marketing team, writing the newsletter describing the ELSA proof of concept Four shipments from China, Vietnam and the United States were successfully monitored within the logistics network, The products were equipped with their digital twins to enhance physical interaction for both Customs and consumers. Additionally, the certificates issued by EUIPO played a crucial role in helping the system identify information generated by genuine certificate holders. #anticounterfeiting #supplychain

I’ve read a couple of articles now on Bitcoin enigma network and covenants. It’s still not super clear to me which functions are available for the “hashed mempool”. Please share some more links!

The anticounterfeiting tools have been unveiled! They will assist in identifying genuine products and shipments, unlocking novel customer journeys, and generating analytics that are currently unattainable. During the unveil day at @EU_IPO, representatives of the 4 brands: Mercedes, Angelini Pharma, Equip Outdoors and Harman Kardon and of the 2 logistics operators: JAS and KLM, discussed the results of the pilot project which involved real import shipments coming from China, Vietnam and the United States passing through the Dutch Customs. What are the primary elements? 1) Digital certificates issued by EUIPO that enable anyone to verify data signed by an authentic brand owner. 2) An extension to digital tokens (NFTs) that describes the genuine object, ensuring that only legitimate brands can sign these extensions. Creating counterfeit digital representations becomes impossible. 3) A logistics protocol for exchanging shipment details, accompanied by evidence of originating from a genuine brand owner. This facilitates improved risk assessment and streamlined data sharing within the supply chain. What are the main advantages? 1) Easy identification of real shipments and easy cross checking of object details against approved and expected details. This can be leveraged even by Customs. 2) New digital tool for customer experiences which can collect data and offer new services. 3) Faster data sharing for logistics: analytics on real time events, item by item logistics costs and supply chain commercial insights All the tools are opensource, if you have any question please feel free to reach out, we can schedule a demonstration of the main steps. Last but not least, a big thank you to all the stakeholders and blockathon members, it is a great adventure and I'm looking forward working with you! #logistics #supplychain #analytics #intellectualproperty #europeanunion #anticounterfeiting #opensource
