Checked out the Xiaohongshu app after hearing all the TT refugees going on about it. So many talented and funny folks from China there. It’s too bad that Nostr hasn’t hit critical mass in popularity yet, because I’d love to see a global village type situation, free of gov or corp control.

Posts I made on these iOS clients did not make it to my feed there, and likewise from there to here. Pretty sure everyone is using the same relays, so that’s weird. Ahh well, I’ll check into it tomorrow. Have a good whatever time of the day it is for you.

OK, wow, joining here has sent me down the proverbial rabbit hole of new/newish things to learn. Got Alby hub installed because I’m not in a position to entertain subscription based services. Learned that I needed a channel to participate in the whole zapping experience, then I learned that I needed bitcoin/sats to setup the channel. 😆 I haven’t owned BC in years, but got enough to eventually get the channel going. Now I’m just waiting for the exchange to settle me transactions, so I can get the sats into my wallet. Found a streaming app (zap stream). I enjoy live-streaming my guitar practice time. The app looks cool, but I’ll need to go down another learning rabbit hole to see if it uses rtmp or another protocol compatible with my hardware encoder. It’d be nice to be able to add a nostr stream to the restream service.

Well here we are. I’ve heard rumblings about this…service? network? platform?… so trying it out. I enjoy the concept of open and decentralized online spaces. Time to get the lay of the land, as it were.
