“If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” — George Bernard Shaw

Back at it with the last of the damsons… Damson Compote (900 g batch) • 900 g damsons • 100 g caster sugar • 1 vanilla pod (split, seeds scraped, pod added too) • 3 cinnamon sticks • 260 ml fortified wine (I used 130 ml Vin Santo + 130 ml Tawny Port) Method 1. Split the vanilla pod lengthways and scrape out the seeds. Add seeds and pod to a large pan with the sugar, cinnamon sticks, and fortified wine. 2. Warm gently until the sugar dissolves. 3. Add the damsons and bring to a simmer. Cook until the fruit softens and the liquid thickens into a glossy syrup (about 20–30 minutes). 4. Taste — if it’s too sweet, balance with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. 5. Remove the cinnamon sticks and vanilla pod before jarring. #foodstr #homesteading image

Once a society normalises silencing instead of debating, you just push conflict underground until it explodes.

Forced to fell these because of the bastard bark beetle, after a very dry summer the spruce were weakened unfortunately, they do make pretty patterns though!
