I'm not saying there's nothing at all we can do about spam. Just nothing technical, at least not on a node-by-node basis. As Satoshi once said: "Information is easy to propagate, but hard to stop." All it takes to screw it up for everyone in the library, is one evil guy with a trombone. The sound will propagate into every corner no matter how fancy your noise cancelling earphones are. So will spam, no matter what filters you install on your node. What we can do, with some limited potential success, is object to, shame, and ostracize bad actors when they are identifiable (Udi Wertheimer, Eric Wall, …). We can stop giving them a platform by talking about, or even justifying their scams (NFTs, ordinals, inscriptions, runes, …). Because they thrive on publicity. That *may* somewhat limit their ability to raise VC money in the future. But it also may create a Streisand effect, or a rebel underdog effect.
