I resonated deeply with Ben Askren’s panel at B24 talking about the parallels between #bitcoin culture and combat sport culture. Personal responsibility, humility and proof of work are required in abundance to succeed. Today I witnessed someone embody those values in abundance. I had the privilege to watch my Lehigh teammate Darian Cruz compete for a bronze medal in wrestling. Going in he was a massive underdog is a stacked bracket. Darian managed to only suffer losses to the gold and bronze medalists. I know Darian is a true warrior and competitor. He is probably hurting bad from falling short of the gold. But. I am incredibly proud of and inspired by the talent and toughness Darian displayed. Congrats on your 5th place finish brother. Very few understand the amount of hard work, loneliness, and anguish it takes to compete at that level in wrestling. Like bitcoin and startups, it’s the immense challenges and journey therein that change you for the better.
