I have to say I *REALLY* enjoy this setup:
MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon for portability, long battery life, good screen and physical security
Remote Ubuntu + Nix for all development work. ssh from the MacBook, every project inside of a different tmux session.
Currently on a Ryzen 9 7950x with 128GB RAM

Here’s how I set up a clean #Linux VPS for remote development:
When run on a fresh #Ubuntu 24.04 install it will…
- set up a user (mz)
- pull down all my ssh pubkeys
- set zsh as the default shell
- install #Nix with support for flakes
- install *all* my tools with Nix via home-manager
- set up #NeoVim, #fzf and other cli tools
- install tailscale
Less than 5 minutes from first ssh login to productive dev environment.

Number 1 reason I refuse to use #Linux on the desktop is that #Wayland support on #NVIDIA is still a hassle.
Most of the things work but something simple as watching a full screen video in the browser is still painful.
In which cases do you guys use @SimpleX Chat over Signal?

I endorse and use proton.me products myself and also have a few @Proton Wallet invites to share if someone wants one.

I played 4 hours of CoD Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta via GeForce Now in 4k@120Hz and ~20ms latency.
Cloud #gaming has gotten craaazy good!
Ok, I’m gonna try this for a month:
I will replace my local development environment with a server environment.
- #linux VPS with Ryzen 7950x (hopefully 9950x soon)
- ssh over tailscale
- tmux + #neovim
I’m also gonna game exclusively on GeForce Now during that period.
Do I need to buy a domain if I want to setup a #nostr relay? I was thinking of setting one up for myself but don’t want to buy a public domain for it per se. Is a plain IPv4 address also fine?
Who to follow if I’m interested in #rust #go #cryptography #fuzzing and #linux / #nixos?
