While slicing up rhubarb, i was thinking how tired i was when i sliced the tip of thumb. That sucker bled. Luckily i had a flap attached so cleaned it and pressed it back into place. A few hours later it was looking okay so i grabbed a stalk of comfrey and squeezed juice out of it and applied to the cut. Sounds silly but i can feel it healing.

Gm nostr. My daughter and i have been frequent visitors at my friend's farm where they have 3 Belgian draft horses. Ive been around horses, mostly quarter horses, my whole life and i am blown away by the docile temperament of these gentle giants.

Gm nostr. Yesterday i got the barn floor cleaned out and filled two compost bins. Interestingly, thousands of ants had colonized the deep litter. This happens every winter but not in summer. The ants emit a lemony scent when disturbed. I looked them up. They are called common citronella ants. The hens enjoyed eating their egg cases. These ants are probably living deep in the ground near the barn and move in to access resources in the deep moist litter.
