At the same time that the EU is not only preventing people from trying new things but also preventing them from even thinking about trying, SpaceX is capturing massive rockets with "chopstick grips". .. While the EU is stuck in an ocean of meaningless bureaucratic details, Musk is engaged in a process of constant testing and improvement, reminiscent of the natural course of decentralised systems... The EU is facing "existential challenges", but neither the Draghi report nor the Commission's Compass will be enough to solve these challenges. Europe should consider returning to its roots - decentralised power structures! View article →

🇪🇺 In The European Union today: - The censorship framework DSA violates the legitimacy of democracies (consent of the governed) - DSA also undermines the notion of "informed consent" - Chat Control 2 will violate the right to private & family life, home and correspondence - The ongoing war on cash (decashing) undermines both property rights & freedom of contract - CBDCs - ECB apparently looks for an October launch - will further undermine freedoms, as it will exterminate the freedom to transact - Without the freedom to transact, freedom of assembly, speech and of religion is undermined But do, pray tell, regale me with more examples of how the vapid bureaucracy and its European Democracy Shield is "protecting our democracy, upholding our values"...

We face a near future where we may soon have access to almost everything we desire – at least in the digital realm. Unfortunately, what we wish for doesn’t always align with what we truly need. - How do we create technical solutions that meet our fundamental needs for human connection – rather than just supplying mindless scrolling entertainment? - How can we ensure those collecting our data don’t exploit it for their own interests, selling us things we don’t need? (or worse?) - Is the current model of centralisation, corporate giants, and profit maximisation really compatible with our best interests? New piece out! #nostr #bitcoin View article →

Europe's economic framework requires restructuring grounded in realism. The Commission's Competitiveness Compass, alas, reveals dangerous left-hemisphere dominance and risks repeating Mao's mistakes. A piece on the real problems of the EU, including what the European Commission ought to do (but regrettably will not). New piece out! View article →

Has anyone tried setting up e.g. yubikeys with NFC to work with decently-sized padlocks? I'd like to see product recommendations and/or some guide. #asknostr

Instead of talking about "toxic algorithms" and TikTok bans, like so many do today, we should ask ourselves more fundamental questions. For instance; how about we examine the very notion of information control? (My proposal to some of our problems would be massive decentralisation combined with protections against Sybil attacks, i.e. proof of work...) New piece out! Not sure who posted it but this quote reminded me of both #Bitcoin and #Nostr, in particular Hayek's idea that "if we can’t take it violently out of the hands of government, [then] all we can do is by some sly roundabout way introduce something that they can’t stop" image #mckenna

If our parliaments and governments are serious about improving robustness and preparedness, it is high time to leave old thought patterns such as Chat Control behind and instead back novel technologies such as asymmetric encryption and zero-knowledge proofs! New piece out! View article →

Regardless of whether I read reports from the European Commission, opinions from various IMF officials, or speeches by big wig central bankers, I am invariably reminded of Iain McGilchrist's hemispherical hypothesis. A society dominated by the left hemisphere results in a pathological need for control. A more holistic perspective, taking into account the right hemisphere, would acknowledge that too much control can be detrimental and that financial freedom is a human right... naddr1qvzqqqr4gupzqs35yguednn9f9equekad0ztklhmnujuvrzgzmtmc3axtcwcpkeyqqxnzden8ycnwdpexqmr2v3kj2qzcq #freedomtotransact #bitcoin #humanrights

Perhaps the biggest crisis we are facing as a society is a severe lack of epistemic humility? Be it Larry Ellison of Oracle, Larry Fink of BlackRock, Ursula von der Leyen, or why not the ECB's Christine Lagarde... #bitcoin #czechia #ecb

What if the Green Facts Don't Add Up? - A new piece out on Nostr! Is the EU's green transition a recipe for disaster? Beneath the rhetoric, the numbers suggest a worrying trend: the green agenda may be stifling economic growth, weakening security and eroding preparedness. Can the EU really afford to put green pledges ahead of prosperity and defence?

Thanks to @Stroger for the translation! View article →

The German trend towards deindustrialization and falling wages may have negative consequences for environmental priorities down the road. Perhaps the declining support for incumbent government parties across the West is a sign? A short text reminding you of Simon Kuznets 👇 View article →
