Ya know... I think my ideal #nostr client would be the love child of @miljan's Primal and @hodlbod's Coracle that's been raised by Tweetdeck. And before someone says to "just make it yourself", I have neither the knowledge nor the drive to do it. Primal has the algorithms, a lot of content moderation tools, and their "trending" list. And it seems they are taking a page out of Bluesky's book and ultimately allowing users to outsource all of that. They also have a Twitter-like UI, so that helps a LOT. Coracle has the layout in terms of how threads are nested, it shows what relays a given note has been posted to, and its advanced search features. It also has a neat relay review system, the NIP-32-based lists could be useful, if a little underutilized, and it's one of the few web-based clients that implement nostr connect. And I almost forgot to mention support for multiple accounts. And finally Tweetdeck. Good god, where do I even start? Multi-collum layout allowing you to have multiple feeds on one screen and scheduled tweets were the two biggest features. Granted I never did use that second one. Side note, I've actually managed to post at least one thing a day for two weeks straight so I'm slowly breaking out of my shell.

It just dawned on me... Am I crazy in thinking that #nostr and #bluesky more similar in how they work than we think? Yes I know that the two underlying protocols are different. But I'm thinking along the lines of doing the same by very different means. And to answer my own question, yes I think I'm crazy in thinking this, hence the sanity check.

One thing I hate about romance #anime, is the constant cock-blocking. For example a show I'm watching this season has the main guy call out the main girl to meet him after work because he wants to confess and ask her out. She shows up and just as he's about to confess, she interrupts him and says something to the extent of "We work well together, let's continue being friends so we can keep up the good work." I mean seriously! What the fuck! Why do they keep doing this! We need more romance anime where the main couple either get together at the beginning or are already together! #rantover

I had the strangest realization when waking up this morning regarding #music. At least in terms of rock and metal, women are either the lead singer in a female-fronted band, or in an all female band... Granted that is just an observation and by no means a hard rule, and there are exceptions to that general observation. I'm sure that's because there some not so savory reasons for that, but still blew my mind when it dawned on me.

I doubt anyone's going to see this. But whenever I see someone using some kind of buzzword in an argument, I just ignore the argument. Doesn't matter if it's #political buzzwords or #crypto buzzwords. I ignore such arguments because the sole reason for buzzwords is to gather enough support, regardless if your stance is right or wrong, to scare your opponents into backing down. Hell, it isn't just arguments. It's ANY kind of speech. It doesn't matter how harmful those buzzwords are, as long as it gets you enough support.

Hello, #nostr. I always hear people saying, in terms of nostr's popularity, "gradually, then suddenly". But I have to ask, how long does that take? Days, months, years, generations? How quick is "suddenly"? I sure as hell don't have the answer, and I wonder if the people repeating this have anything that resembles an idea on it. I think there comes a point where this attempt to inspire confidence in the movement as a whole becomes nothing more than just another set of buzzwords. I do think that nostr is an example of a path forward. I want it to succeed. I want it to flourish. But I also understand that nostr is up against the juggernauts of social media. I understand that the underlying technology (cryptography) that nostr and related things are built upon are poisoned wells. I understand that nostr may end up flopping and remain a super niche platform. I think it's important that the devs working on this project understand that and not just ignore that reality. But what do I know, I'm not swimming in the crypto lake. I'm just at a park near the water's edge looking out. (Written as part of my #challenge.)

Do I think that #nostr will still be around after 5 years? Yes. Will it be around at the scale and scope that people want? No. As it stands X still has such a massive pull. I've seen so many people that say they are going to abandon X for another platform, only for them to be back to business as usual a few short days later. Nostr has NOT been able to capitalize on the attempts of a mass exodus whenever X fucks up. Don't get me wrong, I think there are a number of things nostr does right and a number of things that it gets wrong. Written as part of my #challenge.
