My name is John, and I am a craftsman who tends to an old blacksmith shop on the outskirts of Oregon. During the most uncertain period of my life, I spent my days surrounded by glowing metal and chisels. The clanging sound of the hammer striking the iron armor gradually filled the emptiness in my heart. Watching the red-hot steel ingot cool and take shape in my hands felt like building an indestructible fortress with my own hands. At the time, I never imagined that the statue of a knight I had forged with my own hands would one day stand in a stranger’s study or on a display shelf, clad in deep red armor, silently guarding the peace of the room. This deep red knight statue? It was inspired by flipping through my grandfather’s medieval manuscripts, seeing illustrations of knights clad in red armor and wielding long swords. As my fingertips traced the creases of the pages, I suddenly wanted to give that sense of “steadfastness” a tangible form, and thus the idea was born. I repeatedly hammered thick copper plates into shape, chiseling intersecting ridges onto the curved surfaces of the armor—each protrusion corresponds to the actual structure of medieval armor. The edges of the shoulder plates were intentionally left with hammered rough edges, as if they had endured countless battlefield collisions. The most meticulous part was the deep red glaze, made by mixing iron oxide and cinnabar, carefully applied and fired three times in the kiln to achieve a color as dark as congealed blood and as bright as a flame. The glaze was intentionally lighter at the armor's seams, revealing the cold glow of the bronze beneath, like moonlight seeping through the armor's cracks. The knight's face is chiseled with sharp angles, high cheekbones, and a taut jaw. His left hand rests on the sword hilt, while his right hand grips a cross-shaped shield, whose intricate patterns are deep enough to catch the fingertips. Like the medieval-style chisel passed down from his father, it may carry the roughness of the old era, but it holds an understanding of “faith and protection,” resonating with those who cherish the “spiritual solace” found in the weighty. If you value handcrafted pieces with the warmth of forging—rather than mass-produced, smooth ornaments—then this statue is made for you. Thank you for supporting handmade craftsmanship. What you are purchasing is not merely a statue—it is a tangible tribute to “perseverance,” a continuation of the artisans' dedication embedded in the hammer marks and glaze hues. This significance, like the unyielding torch in an ancient castle, is solemn yet fiery, standing tall and straight through the ages. Source: https://web.facebook.com/share/v/1DEGufU1w1/
