The lazy joys of a Saturday morning, unencumbered by the tyranny of an alarm clock. My lovely wife and I had indulged in a leisurely lie-in, that is, until our mischievous cat overlord, Rolo, saw fit to rouse us from our slumber by sending my glass of water crashing to the floor. Thus began our day, with a hearty breakfast feast - three crumpets apiece, lavished with butter and marmite, accompanied by a rich americano for me and a velvety latte for my better half, courtesy of our trusty Tassimo machine. Refreshed and revitalized, we set out into the crisp air for a stroll around our local medieval castle, reusable coffee mugs in hand, filled once more with the Tassimo coffees. As we wandered, we allowed ourselves to get lost in conversation and daydreams of the future. Upon our return home, we warmed up with Celebrations themed hot chocolates - mine a Snickers variety, hers a Twix, both topped with fluffy marshmallows. And now, as the evening draws to a close, I find myself immersed in a deep bubble bath, whiskey in hand, feeling grateful for this tranquil Saturday interlude. If only the hours could be stretched to accommodate more of such blissful indolence.

Waiting for the car to defrost 🤦‍♂️

Today was one of those days that felt like summer was showing off. We arrived at Volcano Bay right at the 10 a.m. opening, securing some prime seats with a perfect view of the towering volcano. Every now and then, the deep, booming sound of drums and trumpets would echo through the air, a cue that the wave pool was about to get wild. The waves were fierce, but still, I think the one big wave at Typhoon Lagoon has the edge over Volcano Bays smaller more numerous waves. The fast river was a hit, though. You slip on a life jacket, hop in, and let the current sweep you along in a fast, winding loop around the park. No need for slides today—I’m not much for them, and Em’s the same way. After a few hours of soaking up the sun and getting tossed around by the waves, we headed back for a bit of rest. I did some video editing, and then we made our way to Olive Garden. We’d talked about stopping by the Premium Outlets, but after dinner, the day caught up with us. Instead, we headed back to the room, threw on some comfy clothes, and called it a night. Some days are best finished quietly, with nothing more than the hum of air conditioning and the promise of a good night’s sleep. #Disney

Our mission today? Conquer Hollywood Studios and make it to the grand finale, Fantasmic. Spoiler alert: mission accomplished—but not without some serious stamina. Between the heat, the crowds, and the marathon of attractions, it was the kind of day that left us bone-tired but grinning ear to ear. We launched straight into Galaxy’s Edge with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Em and I got the role of gunners—less pressure than the pilot, thankfully, but still plenty of chaotic button-mashing. After the thrill of flying (and crashing) the Falcon, we braved the infamous Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance—our first ride through this epic adventure of stormtroopers and space battles. When we stepped off, grinning, Em had a quick run-in with a real-life stormtrooper, keeping the Star Wars immersion alive. Right around then, something extraordinary happened. We’d been tracking the Europa Clipper launch on X.com, and just as we were standing in Galaxy’s Edge, the rocket shot up in the distance, a tiny streak in the sky. Watching it go from the screen to the actual horizon was one of those moments that’ll stay with us for a while—technology and the universe, right there in front of us. After that cosmic encounter, we cooled down with some blue milk, which was way more refreshing than you’d expect from its slightly odd appearance. Then, it was off to explore the shops before boarding Star Tours, a nostalgic hit for any Star Wars fan. We tried our luck at Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land, but it was down for the day—so we headed back to our favorite, Rise of the Resistance, for a second ride. Can’t beat it. Dinner at Eddie’s Cantina (pizza, because why not?), then it was time for Fantasmic. The crowds were intense, but the show? Worth every elbow jab. Moana and Frozen definitely had the best songs, and by the time we left, we were thoroughly exhausted but buzzing with that end-of-day Disney glow. Getting out was a bit like herding cattle, but we managed, still smiling as we made our way back. Tomorrow might be a slower pace, but today? One for the books.

Packed a lot into today with a full day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom followed by Universal Horror Nights. Definitely ambitious for one day—so much walking! Today started with a quiet morning at the hotel on I-Drive as we waited for Hurricane Milton to pass. By afternoon, we ventured out to find most places still closed, with just a few gift shops open. The storm left its mark with fallen branches and leaves scattered along the pavements, but luckily no major damage (on I-Drive at least). By evening, everything was back in full swing, and we ended the day with a couple of tasty burgers and fries at the Shake Shack. Back to enjoying the holiday! #Orlando #HolidayVibes
