"With the 25th anniversary of 9/11 on the horizon, the CBC has circulated a memo to reporters and editors across all its news platforms reminding them not to refer to the attacks that claimed 3,000 lives and changed the modern world as "terrorist attacks." "

Nearly all US Senate Democrats write Netanyahu to demand action on ‘fatal’ settler violence. Letter drafted by Schumer, Schiff and Booker, signed by all but 2 of 47-member caucus, calls for removing illegal outposts and stepping up probes of killings of US citizens https://www.timesofisrael.com/nearly-all-us-senate-democrats-write-netanyahu-to-demand-action-on-fatal-settler-violence/ "In the letter to Netanyahu, seen by Reuters and signed by 45 of the Senate’s 47-member Democratic caucus, the lawmakers noted increasing levels of “fatal violence by settlers.” They also appealed to Israel’s leader to step up investigations into the deaths of nine American citizens they said have been killed by Israeli settlers or security forces in the West Bank since 2022. The “significant surge” of violence in recent weeks has resulted in “a large-scale response by Israeli security forces, mass arrests of Palestinians, and reported attacks by settlers on mosques,” the letter stated."

"It will see the Netherlands ban the “import, purchase, and sale of goods originating from unlawful Israeli settlements in the Palestinian Territories” from September 22. With the move, the Netherlands will join a small but fast-growing group of European countries acting unilaterally on an issue that is focused mainly on illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank. The Dutch measures follow a similar move by Belgium, which approved its own import ban days earlier. The Netherlands also joins Spain and the Republic of Ireland among EU states acting unilaterally, as pressure builds on the 27-nation bloc to adopt a coordinated response to Israel’s actions in Gaza and the occupied territories."

https://www.ap.org/the-definitive-source/announcements/ap-reuters-call-for-accountability-on-anniversary-of-gaza-strike-that-killed-journalists/ AP Executive Editor Julie Pace and Reuters Editor-in-Chief Alessandra Galloni on Tuesday issued this joint statement: On the one-year anniversary of the Israeli strikes on Nasser Hospital in Gaza that killed our colleagues, we remember their lives and once again call on the Israeli government to provide a full explanation of what happened. The strikes on Aug. 25, 2025, killed five journalists, including Reuters cameraman Hussam al-Masri; visual journalist Mariam Dagga, who worked for AP and other news organizations; and Moaz Abu Taha, a freelance journalist whose work had been published by Reuters. They were at the hospital in their professional capacity, doing critical work to keep the world informed. A year later, we remain devastated by their deaths and are still searching for answers from the Israeli authorities about what happened that day. The strikes that killed them occurred at a hospital, a location protected under international law and one that was widely known to be crucial for news coverage out of Gaza. The information we have received to date has fallen short of the clear answers and accountability that an incident of this gravity requires. Reuters also continues to seek answers over the killing by Israeli tank fire on Oct. 13, 2023 of visuals journalist Issam Abdallah in southern Lebanon. Journalists play an essential role in documenting events and informing the public, often at enormous personal risk. We honor our colleagues who were killed at Nasser Hospital—and all journalists killed during this conflict and other conflicts—and remain committed to seeking answers about their deaths. We again call on the government of Israel to explain the deaths of these journalists and take every step necessary to protect journalists covering the conflict. We will continue to seek answers, demand accountability and call for access to Gaza to provide support to our colleagues who have been covering the war for almost three years now.
