GM Nostr ☕️ I couldn’t hardly stay asleep last night, but fortunately I’ve not too much to do in a hurry today. I’m going to try something new this morning and just hitting shuffle on Plex and see what I get while I drink my coffee. This morning’s exposure to random TV:

Pinball as a Working Analogy for Life Like being born, you’re immediately dying; much like the angle of the board leaning you towards the drain (death) more than life (playing the board). As the board represents life, that would mean the ball represents your soul. It doesn’t die but only awaits for rebirth. Your body represented by the flippers: your only means of interacting with life. Sure, you could cradle your ball with the flippers and just hold it there extending your lifetime but no one elects to be a vegetable on life support to artificially extend their time. No your mission is to enjoy your life, and the thrill of death ever looming affects your every decision; but more often than not, you’ll find yourself more concerned with trying to find the secrets the board holds or striving to achieve success that no one else has found yet. The points are money. You’re happy to earn them but ultimately you can only hope to leave behind a legacy as they aren’t carried with you: just your name attached to the estate you left behind. I think most don’t entertain the thought that they will be number one, but rather just enjoy experiencing the opportunities the board presents to them. Much like most people don’t want to be the richest but just want a full experience. I think people just don’t want to feel gypped. Like the ball bouncing into the outlane completely out of your grasp, or it falling perfectly in between your flippers just out of reach. We strive more to feel a sense of control in life, more than we strive for success. The board you’re born into is much different than some other’s. Yours may be more challenging like being born poor or under duress. Or yours might just be weird and unlike any others’, like being raised by the town idiot. Or yours might be not too challenging, but not very rewarding either; like being born rich. This is why it can be so challenging to connect with people with vastly different backgrounds. In conclusion, there’s no right or wrong way to play pinball much like there is no one way to live your life. How you live your life is determined largely by how you choose to use your body(flippers), but even more affecting it is by having the insight to know how to respond to what life(the board) throws at you. By reading the back box, you can understand what’s actually happening, but if you ignore it to hyperfixate on your ball(self) or be dazzled by the flashing lights(distractions), you may quickly find yourself wondering what’s happening. As being well-informed is your best defense against life.
