Why are people still living in surveillance traps? If this stuff cannot be stopped, move to a place where it's pointless to install surveillance tech because the people are too spread out or are willing to boycott the county commissioners' personal businesses (they all have them).

There is a reason why I have gone to just one bitcoin conference (2023 Texas Blockchain Council - which is a stupid name and besides having dinner with politicians was a waste of time) since getting into bitcoin in Jan 18. And it's not because of cost.
It's because I have zero interest in rubbing shoulders with influencers or being seen with them. My decisions regarding my bitcoin aren't perfect, but I didn't listen to any of them in any meaningful way at any point. I listened to people who had nothing to gain by giving me advice. That's worked out pretty well so far.
This coldcard thing is disappointing, but it will have about as much longer term effect on future users as Mt Gox had on me. I knew nothing about it until I had already built much of my stack.
