I recently read a story about someone feeding stray cats on the street, and it inspired me to share my own journey with cats.
Back in 2023, we only had one cat who belonged to my parents. She was almost 10 years old when she got pregnant and gave birth to a single black kitten. Around the same time, someone gave us a white kitten. People would say that black cats bring bad luck, but I never believed in those superstitions. To me, he was just a cat who needed love, food, and care.
Sadly, one day he went missing because of an accident. A tricycle driver didn’t realize the kitten had climbed onto the vehicle. The kitten fell off somewhere along the way and was never found again.
Not long after, the white kitten also disappeared. Someone picked him up and took him away. I was completely heartbroken. I love cats so much, and I kept asking myself, “Why does this keep happening?”
Then, after about a year, our old cat gave birth again — this time to another black kitten. Soon after, someone gave us another white kitten. It felt like déjà vu.
And then something unexpected happened. Little by little, cats started finding their way to us. Sometimes people would leave a cat near our house, and occasionally even a puppy. It felt as if they somehow knew where they would be welcomed.
At first, I only had three cats. Then other neighborhood cats started hanging around our home until suddenly there were almost ten of them.
Maybe I didn’t choose to become a cat person — maybe the cats chose me. And honestly, I’m happy they did. ❤️🐾
