image Could do with a car as public transport doesn't really cut it where I am but what I can't be doing with is.... road tax, insurance, extortionate fuel costs (50% of which is tax), speed cameras, MOT's, new tyres, repair bills etc & that's coming from someone who's taken gearboxes out and changed clutches while laying on an old bit of carpet at the weekend in the past. When you're comfortable with money or drive a company car you don't even think about this stuff! Do people still use Haynes Manuals or do they just watch YT videos nowadays? How else would you know the tightening sequence and the torque settings for your cylinder bolts?

Conspiracy theorists were right again, now the UK Government is admitting to funding #geoengineering starting with ยฃ50m project to dim the sun funded by taxpayers, anyone with a functioning pair of eyes knows they've already been doing it. #chemtrails

When you do a search for 'most elegant language' French usually comes up as the top result and I'd have to agree to that, the sound of a well spoken elegant French lady is the epitome of grace to me. The results are all no doubt subjective but Arabic is often one of the top results also, I heard Ghadi Francis on a video talking Arabic and whether it's her accent or the way she delivers her speech - it did sound kind of alluring, assuming she speaks Lebanese Arabic, French has been entwined in that dialect dating back as far as the Crusades. One of the hottest voices in my mind though was that of a well read, articulate and also a bit posh South African woman who happened to smoke and was schizophrenic, not sure what that has to do with anything? Maybe it's a touch of '20th Century Smoke & Glamour Hollywood Allure' and there's nothing to glamourise about psychotic breaks but a beautiful mind and schizophrenia can sometimes go hand in glove. As for English, most regional dialects just don't compare to the aforementioned, take southern dialects such as Bristolian or Cornish "Or-roight my lover" The Wurzels "ooh aah ooh aah", The Midlands "Ay up me duck", Up North - Liverpool "Sound like, have you got a ciggy lad" or Newcastle "Why aye man". Those examples are most likely gross stereotypes but anyone who can audiate those phrases will know what I'm getting at. Maybe it's more a case of erudition, articulatory phonetics and delivery but going back to French & Arabic those languages do have a certain flow to them. #speech #language

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‘ฎโœ‹ "Oi mate! Ya got a loicense fot that?" This dude has been issued an ASBO (Anti Social Behaviour Order) which bans his music bike from the city centre, what a bunch of miserable c**ts, I wonder how many people cracked a smile when they saw him ride past for the first time. ๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿ”Œ๐Ÿšฆ๐Ÿ”Š๐ŸŽถ Looks like he was rolling with a little petrol generator kicking out 240v and a 5 way adapter with all his gear plugged in - lights, speakers, amp, mixer & controller. #bikestr ๐Ÿ˜

There's no shortage of health & dietary advice out there such as "Alcohol is poison" "Eat your veg" "Drink X amount of water a day" but has a few beers when combined with a healthy diet ever hurt anyone? There's an argument to be heard that some beers & stouts are actually good for your gut! Whereas some fruit & veg is high in insoluble fibre and can be harsh on your guts. Water is poison if you force drink it at a radio station contest to win a Nintendo Wii (Jennifer Strange) Maybe it's just a case of finding what works for you? Alcohol probably is poison if you're sat in a city centre shop doorway at 10am with your hand shaking as you take another gulp of your Tennent's Super or White Lightning but there'll be loads of old folks who swear by a drop of whiskey or brandy in your tea when you've got a cold followed by a hot bath and bed to sweat it out, or the old folks who've had a bottle of stout every night. I've got relatives who've drank 8 cans of Speckled Hen every weekend for as long as I can remember who never go to the doctors or have health problems, they're also pro lard in the frying pan ๐Ÿณ #beer #beerstr

AEC Matador, these things were produced from 1938 to 1958, they were originally made for military use and designed to tow artillery and howitzers in WW2. 7.5l 6 cylinder diesel. Looks like this one was owned by D.Blakemore & Sons, a sheet metal manufacturer based in Coventry. Companies House shows records for the company dating 1916 - (dissolved) 2021, the National Archives 1893 - 1985 but there's an advert in the Coventry Chamber of Commerce yearbook which shows the company was established in 1870. Turns out I was on private property when I snapped this ๐Ÿ˜‚ #truck #truckstr

Another bike that's probably too good to ride and in collector's condition. Modern dirtbikes may have better geometry, frames, suspension, brakes and a better range of power delivery but these old 2 strokes are still wild. Advertised for ยฃ6995 on Ebay. #bikestr #motorbikes

Not that Nostr users or Bitcoiners will be bothered about what the markets are currently doing ๐Ÿ˜ but here's something different to watch other than charts. This guy makes some interesting videos about the Medieval times. Have you heard of Tally Sticks before? Sounds like 2 halves of a tally stick achieves consensus.

Speaking as someone who never goes on holiday or has even flown on a plane - hanging out abroad somewhere warm, eating quality food and having a few beers in the evening does appeal, the whole '7 days away and then back to the dull status quo' - not so much though, rather not bother. image

Things you could do, artisanal mining? Opal mining/prospecting if you found yourself in Oz. People who try their hand at small scale mining usually spend more on overheads, living expenses, tools, fuel etc than they'll ever make from what they find, if anything. Those with experience or local knowledge can't always make it pay, the easy stuff has most likely been got to, the waste piles been picked over many times before etc. Risk factor, gallivanting off to remote areas of the outback can be a death wish even if approached correctly or planned out, loads of things that want to kill you; crocs, snakes, spiders, dried out old mines with fragile ceilings, stale old mines with no oxygen, rabbit warren mines to get lost in, flash floods or just a good old fashioned tumble down a shaft. Maybe some gold prospecting or small scale shallow dredging would be less risky? Until you undermine a 400lb boulder that roles onto your ankle. There's loads of jaunts you could go on if you can finance these adventures and have no commitments.

Why have I suddenly become obsessed with tobacco? Possibly it was sparked by a post that was doing the rounds quoting some old literature advising soldiers to eat a cigarette to kill off parasites. Can I add spending my days bare foot growing, harvesting and the occasional smoking of organic chemical free tobacco somewhere warm & leafy over buying a Lambo? ๐Ÿ˜‚ My dad used to be a bit of a hippy hipster back in his day and used to smoke a pipe, can remember visiting the store where he bought his Kentucky Nougat by the weight โš–๏ธ
