European Academy for Freedom of Information and Data Protection (EAID) Association - February 21, 2024: Julian Assange must not be deported! #FreeAssange These days, the British High Court is ultimately deciding to extradite Julian Assange to the United States. The U.S. government accuses him of espionage for posting information about suspected US military war crimes on the Wikileaks disclosure platform. In the event of a conviction, he faces up to 175 years in prison or, in the worst case, the death penalty. Peter Schaar, Chairman of the European Academy for Freedom of Information and Data Protection, explains: „ In many regions of the world, governments try to keep human rights violations and war crimes for which they are responsible secret. It must be a concern of democratic states to ensure maximum transparency here. This also applies to processes in your area of responsibility. They need to provide comprehensive information instead of persecuting those who make such acts public. Therefore Julian Assange must not be extradited and must be released after many years of isolation and imprisonment “.

🇳🇴 Julian Assange nominated for 2024 Nobel Peace Prize Sofie Marhaug, a Norwegian MP from the left-wing Red Party, nominated journalist Julian Assange: “Assange has exposed Western war crimes and thus contributed to peace. If we want to avoid war, we must know the truth about the damage that war brings. Assange has exposed torture and inhuman behaviour towards prisoners of war. He deserves the Peace Prize.” #FreeAssange

Fox News: In a letter Monday, 46 members of the European Parliament called on U.K. Home Secretary James Cleverly to "ensure the protection and safety of Julian Assange". Assange, 52, is facing 17 charges for allegedly receiving, possessing and communicating classified information to the public under the Espionage Act, and one charge alleging a conspiracy to commit computer intrusion. The charges were brought by the Trump administration's Justice Department over WikiLeaks' 2010 publication of cables leaked by U.S. Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning detailing war crimes committed by the U.S. government in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, detention camp. The materials also exposed instances of the CIA engaging in torture and rendition. #FreeAssange

@Patrick Breyer member of the European Parliament for the German Pirate Party: “The detention and prosecution of Assange set an extremely dangerous precedent for all journalists, media actors, and freedom of the press. No journalist should be prosecuted for publishing ‘state secrets’ of public interest because this is their job. The public has a right to know about state crimes committed by those in power, to be able to stop them and bring them to justice. Julian Assange has changed the world we live in for the better, bringing in an era where injustice can no longer be swept under the carpet.” #FreeAssange

U.S. and C.I.A. are acting totally retarded They could have left Assange alone years ago and the public would have forgotten the shit they've done. Instead of that they chose unending mindless revenge, and now people all-over the world learn or are reminded daily, again and again, about how they're responsible for war crimes, how they struggled for years to assassinate Assange and hide the truth. New content about that is generated daily and will stay online for the years, decades to come. They're destroying exactly the selling points of the U.S. brand in the world: freedom, democracy and truth. Idiotic. Morons. #FreeAssange
