Set in a post-apocalypse future, a time traveler tries to alter the past — it would later provid inspiration for the film 12 Monkeys (1995). Wk2 | The Night of the Hunter (1955) 🍿🍿🍿 Hi everyone! Our film this week will be The Night of the Hunter (1955) Directed by Charles Laughton. If you haven’t seen it, you’re in for a real treat. An expressionist classic, it feels more dream than film — though really it ought to be nightmare. The inimitable Robert Mitchum is unforgettable in his role as a preacher who holds nefarious motives for marrying an unsuspecting widow. The screenplay by James Agee was based on the 1953 novel by the same name by Davis Grubb. And the novel and film both draw on the true story of Harry Powers, who was hanged in 1932 for the murder of two widows and three children in Clarksburg, West Virginia. 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
