A backpacking guiding and photography small-business operating in Jasper National Park and Mount Robson Provincial Park.

Notes (20)

There were beautiful aurora all across Canada last night. We were out in the Robson Valley taking in the show and it was quite spectacular! While the winters can be long and dark out in the hills, more sightings of aurora are certainly something to look forward to! #MyJasper #CanadianRockies #Aurora #Valemount #Photography image image

Fall can be a glorious time in the Rockies. Golden leaves line the trails, and drifts of snow crown the peaks. Jasper's Dark Sky Festival https://www.jasperdarksky.travel/ starts next week. We are looking forward clear skies for stellar stargazing to come! #MyJasper #CanadianRockies #Photography image

Chilly temperatures have blown into the Rockies! Snowy peaks and frosty mornings are likely here to stay until Spring. Keep an eye on road conditions, particularly if planning to drive on the Icefields Parkway south of Jasper. Not long till ski season, we'll be dusting off our touring boots and mulling over snazzy new skis for the quiver! #MyJasper #CanadianRockies #Photography image

A bit ahead of the grizzly bears, and after a challenging but successful season our backpacking service is now hibernating for the winter.😴🐻 Many thanks to our guests for their flexibility with rescheduling and redirecting adventures away from Jasper during this difficult period. Look for updates on our Summer 2025 guided backpacking offerings in Jasper, and Mount Robson Parks on our website (and this space!) in late October, or contact us if you have any questions about a particular trip for next summer season. With recent trail re-openings in Jasper, before the snow starts to fly, we still have space for guided Day Hikes rambling to the summit of Tangle Ridge on Sept 29th and 30th; check out our website here for details or send us an email if interested. https://starrysummit.ca/day-hikes Happy Trails! #MyJasper #CanadianRockies #ColumbiaIcefield image

The redirected new trail from Kinney Lake to Whitehorn Campground on the Berg Lake Trail is now open! Following the east side of the Robson River this machine built path snakes up through pleasant forest. We look forward to skiing down the trail this winter too! #Valemount #BCParks #Robson image

We are back in civilization after a lengthy 11 day guided backpacking trek with 3 clients along Section G of the Great Divide Trail from Blueberry Lakes to Kakwa Provincial Park. This is a rugged, and challenging trail but reaches some of the most pristine wilderness in the range. Huge thanks to trail crew's from the Great Divide Trail Association for all their work along the trail! https://nostrcheck.me/media/361efb310375674c88c960b2f01a512be056af236267481b4c779e2fee0c9f99/3f4fb980aef071eb39d2b6185aa76da734f5517904d2721669c911104d718426.webpp #Backpacking #GDT #CanadianRockies #MyJasper

Back from a great day up loping around Lilly Meadows above the Kinbasket Reservoir. Waterfalls, mountain views, and distant glaciers abound in this scenic spot. As always we proudly accept #bitcoin and #lightning for all of our guided hikes and backpacking and adventures! Get in touch over the winter to plan ahead for the Summer 2025 hiking season in Jasper, Mount Robson Provincial Park, and Valemount! https://starrysummit.ca/valemount #Valemount #CanadianRockies #Hiking #StackSatsStackSteps image image

Some days we are hiking trails, some days we are toiling to fix trails. A proper willow-battle yesterday along the Mica Mine Trail above Valemount. Refreshing to be able to use power tools to make quick progress changing BC treeline jungle into pleasant walking! #Valemount image

This has been a very challenging season for everyone in the #Jasper region. While it is great to see residents and business owners returning to homes in the east side of town our hearts go out to our friends and colleagues who have no place to return to. We have been keeping busy, re-directing our guided backpacking adventures to other areas such as Willmore Wilderness and Mount Robson Provincial Parks. Through showers and sun we have had great views and exceptional adventures for guide and guest alike. As August draws to a close we look forward to our last few trips of the season and starting to plan for adventures to come in Summer 2025. #MyJasper #CanadianRockies image

Our thoughts and condolences go out to our friends, colleagues, and all Jasperites who have been affected by the wildfires sweeping through the park. These are trying times and we are not looking forward to returning to town and seeing all that was lost. In the meanwhile we are trying to keep moving forward and will soon start offering guided day hikes to some of the scenic ridges and meadows around #Valemount . See our page here or send us a message for more details. As ever, we accept #bitcoin and #lightning for our adventures. image https://starrysummit.ca/valemount Let's all hope for cool temperatures and rainy skies to help quench the fires so we can start on the road to recovery and rebuilding. Jasper is our workplace, and our home. The park has seen many troubles since its founding in 1907, and it will survive to see more in the coming centuries. While current times are grim we are excited to see how the community, ecology, and Park itself will recover from this disaster and thrive into the future. #Jasper #CanadianRockies #JasperWildfire

We are in the mist of quite the heat wave in Jasper National Park with daytime high temperatures around +35C! If you are out in the hills be sure to get an early start for outdoor adventures, bring plenty of water, and lather on the sunscreen! #MyJasper image

Showers over the past few days have led to lovely wildflowers along the Fiddle River Trail. Forecasts point to sunny skies for the next week, it will be a great week to be out in the hills! #MyJasper #Backpacking #Flowers image

We have been out around the Kinbasket Reservoir scouting new routes for future seasons. Still a bit too much snow to reach the lake, but the first few glacier lilies are sprouting up around Lilly Meadows! #Valemount #Hiking #Photography image image
