After winter made a little comeback we are finally back at it.
Soon finished with the roof underlayment and other details.
Then plates go on and we attack the other side💪
Just some branch collecting left and we are ready for spring to turn this forest floor back into pastures by hand seeding grasses and rotating pigs and cattle.
So pumped for this project!
Brought in the big guns yesterday💪
This spruce forest around our farm will be turned into silvopasture by the end of this year.
In a few days I should be able to see straight through this forest to my farm area.
Spent the day marking trees in the forest that the harvester should spare.
The criteria by importance are:
- How much shade they can provide the cows on pasture
- How well established their root system is so they survive the animal impact
- How beautiful they are
Look forward to sharing photos of a majestic silvopasture later this year🌳🌱🐂
I keep my girlfriend supplied with organic, free range, non-medicated and non-soy fed pork meat.
She keeps me with vast amounts of delicious smoked bacon.
It’s a partnership I intend to stay in forever.
New truss ready. Originally from another building on the farm which was set up in 1907. We reuse good materials just like in the good old days.

Started on the inside yesterday. Have to change one of the trusses, so needed a scaffold on the inside.
Thought I might as well rebuild the floor I tore down last year and be done with it. Gonna build another 400 square meters (4300 sq ft) or so after I’m finished with the roof😅
Now a few days of forest work because of snow and rain, and then we start throwing off roof tiles💪
