Once again, I think we need an extremely simple NIP for communities. Something with the simplicity of mailing lists. Something that lets people opt in to an entire topic alongside other interested people in one go. Yes, this needs mods/admins/leaders. But IRL organizations have always had these and they are a feature not a bug. They help shape the community and the discussion. But in a nostr context (like IRL) they won’t be able to destroy your identity or erase your content. A mailing list incubated the influential ideas and then announced the birth of Bitcoin. Let’s bring mailing lists back, powered by Nostr!
