#Bitcoin Physical power is measured in watts, joules per unit of time. Abstract power is measured in bits, information or uncertainty reduction per unit of time. If a persuasive politician can give a speech and reduce the listeners level of uncertainty by the information he provides (whether that information is accurate or completely fallacious and designed to deceive the listeners) more than his opponent can over the course of one hour, he has measurably more abstract power than his opponent.

Imagine what a group of nuclear armed nations, no longer able to practically engage eachother in kinetic warfare, and therefore highly incentivized to form a single ruling class could do to the global population if they identified the genetic markers that show an individual is more likely to impose physical costs on other organisms (natural, undomesticated sapien) versus the genetic markers that indicate a sapien is more domesticated. Imagine what they could do with that knowledge plus the capability of a virtually perfected mass surveillance system. If they wanted to remove the more natural and physically aggressive members of the species from the gene pool, it would be quite trivial to identify these individuals. If their goal was to genetically enslave the ruled class so they are happy owning nothing, living in pods, and eating bugs in fifteen minute cities. Would it be overly ambitious to attempt to achieve this goal? Maybe I should try writing this science "fiction" novel...

Nature does not reward docility. Nature asymmetrically rewards its strongest, most physically aggressive, and intelligent organisms. A society allowing themselves to become too self-domesticated represents a major systemic security hazard for that society.
