I'm not saying the West post-Covid is post-WWI Germany writ large, but if you catch the same fever, you get the same symptoms. My highlights, full text attached: "There were few in any class of society who were not infected by, or prey to, the pervasive, soul-destroying influence of the constant erosion of capital or earnings and uncertainty about the future." "From tax-evasion, food-hoarding, currency speculation, or illegal exchange transactions - all crimes against the State, each of which to a greater or lesser degree became for individuals a matter of survival - it was a short step to breaching one or other of the Ten Commandments." "No people could be expected to remain unconcerned while huge profits and riotous luxury were ostentatiously being enjoyed by the few. Corruption bred corruption, and the Civil Service caught the infection even in the war years. Counterfeiting was widespread." "As the old virtues of thrift, honesty and hard work lost their appeal, everybody was out to get rich quickly, especially as speculation in currency or shares could palpably yield far greater rewards than labour." "For the less astute, it was incentive enough, and arguably morally defensible, to play the markets and take every advantage of the unworkable fiscal system merely to maintain one’s financial and social position." "Not to be able to hold on to what one had, or what one had saved, little as it worried those who had nothing, was a very real basis of the human despair from which jealousy, fear and outrage were not far removed." "The air of corruption in business, politics, and the public service, then, was general." From 'When Money Dies' by Adam Fergusson

This could be a description of the West today, except instead of prostitution we have OnlyFans.

Our latest model, where we have excluded anything people might actually want to spend money on, shows inflation is under control.

Music is wild. Structured vibrations in the air completely rearranging our inner worlds with zero lag. Isn't that insanely wonderful? 🤯😍 Not to mention the surgical precision with which great artists like Beethoven or Pink Floyd can do this to us. The sheer audacity of it all!

I'm a big fan of people daring to be wrong in good faith 👏 Please share your opinions and reflections to the best of your knowledge and ability 🙏 You might be right, but if you don't dare to be wrong we'll never know!

There is one line in one song on one album I will never stop thinking about. For over 50 years it has been a home to anyone who is lost and lonely. A sacred place where we always find each other, no matter the distance in time and space. I'll see you on the dark side of the moon, my frens 🧡

We are returning to a Westphalian system of balance of power because the US failed its role as benevolent hegemon post-USSR. Expanding NATO, unilaterally withdrawing from arms treaties, building missile defense systems, toppling non-aligned leaders, and eventually trying to bring Ukraine into our sphere, openly intending to place missiles on Russia's borders. All in the name of peace, democracy and human rights. These actions were based on the self-fulfilling prophecy that Russia would become an enemy again, because "that's how the Russians are". Endless warnings were dismissed as a betrayal of Western values (as are any calls for peace today, giving us perpetual war(s) with no end in sight). The US failure to place common security above national interests or ideological commitments predictably caused rivals who would otherwise remain divided to come together, covertly build strength and establish competing power centers, replacing the hegemon with a balance of power. This already happened, so now what? Failing hegemons tend to instigate wars in a futile attempt to turn the tide, while they still have a formidable military capacity. But the hegemon's legitimacy, based on shared security and prosperity, is already gone. It can no longer have any meaningful victory. The only question now is therefore how much blood has to flow before the West recognizes reality and is willing to negotiate with equals in a new multilateral Westphalian world. For the moment, we seem more inclined to end humanity than to compromise.

I'm recently learning that certain bitcoiners won't associate with me anymore because I've been open about my past issues. Some have actively thrown me under the bus to signal their own virtue to others. Even some who secretly struggle with their own issues. Although I personally rarely touch drugs anymore, I'm still a firm believer in the value of recreational use - especially psychedelics. And while I'm ashamed to have lost my stack by organizing a costly conference, I'm not ashamed of humbly asking for help. I won't sacrifice my integrity by pretending otherwise just to gain acceptance. And I certainly will never sacrifice anyone else. Humanity, charity and tolerance cannot be outsourced on a #Bitcoin standard, it has to come from each of us. Take care of those who struggle, support those trying to do better, and celebrate those who manage. Never rise by kicking those who are down, we are already hard enough on ourselves. And I'm getting back up with or without you, but it would be way cooler together. 🧡 image

Five years. Years you should never have had to spend on this war. But I won't say waste, because you've done so much for so many by standing firm with integrity. And because of you the whole world now knows what a fraud CSW is, beyond any doubt! Thank you, @hodlonaut BIP110 ♥️
