The Bitcoin protocol does not dictate a uniform network structure—it gives rise to divergent network topologies across layers. The peer-to-peer relay network is shaped by constraints, resulting in a bounded mesh. The mining network, by contrast, is unconstrained and subject to strong preferential attachment, leading to extreme scale-invariance and centralization risk.
