If you know any Brazilians, encourage them to join #nostr. Their government is cracking down on social networks in an attempt to censor their access to news and speech.
Why aren’t the pro-Palestinian protestors demanding the surrender of Hamas, and the freeing of the hostages? That would certainly end the violence and quickly get aid into Gaza.
Replying to @ThePrimeagen What I learned most, from decades of refining my debugging skills, is that I don't ever want to put myself into the position where debugging is necessary. I consider every debugging session to be a failure and every hour spent debugging a waste that I should have avoided.
A Little Clojure #8 -- Let's Get Modular -- is live. A brisk journey showing the construction of a command line tool composed of several different clojure modules. And, of course -- the music. Kfir Ochaion plays Evanescence (Bring me to Life) and Eye of the Tiger.
A Little Clojure #7 - Loop de Loop is live. This is a fun little stroll through the ins and outs of iteration, loops, and recursion. Some surprises too. And, of course, Kfir Ochaion plays two lovely ballads by Gary Moore (RIP).
Here's a little Clojure #1. Watch to learn a bit, or just listen to a great rendition of Little Wing by Kfir Ochaion.
@dhh nails it. — Again. 'The Cloud Fugitive' | David Heinemeier Hansson | NTK # 001 via @YouTube
Clojure macros are tricky, but fun. I'm making good progress on this scoping macro. Maybe it'll even be useful.
Well, it looks like I'm going to have to write a significant clojure macro. Wish me luck!
Good Morning Nostr, My lovely wife and I have retired, once again, to our Northern Hidewawy. The weather is awful -- foggy, slushy, rainy -- ugh. But life is good and I'm looking forward to relaxing with her and seeing friends. I just watched (re-watched) one of Rich Hickey's remarkable talks from 2018. The first half is all about the problems with "Maybe" and "Nilable". The second half if much more clojure specific; and makes a promise that I think he has yet to fulfill. So you can skip that if you are not a clojurian.
Good Morning Nostrs. Today on X someone said: Scientific consensus is well established on climate change issue: It is human made, and drastic reduction of emissions is required. To which I replied: “Consensus” is a political term that is used to obscure the actual science. It’s an argument from authority, with that authority being usurped by the arguer. The actual research indicates rising levels of CO2 and rising temperatures; but does not suggest “drastic” anything. In short, the research is interpreted, then summarized, then reinterpreted, then re-summarized, in a game of “telephone” that warps and obscures the actual results of the research to align with the goals of the politicians.
Do you know how to use a slide rule? This is my father’s from long, long ago. image
Damus is the most popular client for the iPhone, and is very useful. I will be sending @jb55 20K sats every month for using it. I suggest you send what you feel is fair.
