Good morning and merry Christmas y’all!

While doing some research for a presentation I’m preparing, I had the idea of plotting the US national debt over time on a log scale. It really surprised me when plotted like this how linear it appeared. If you take out the major wars it was pretty flat prior to 1971 (when Nixon left the gold standard), but with the wars, it was almost growing faster than it is now. In other words the national debt has been growing fairly consistently in the past 200 years at an exponential rate. P.S. I didn’t put much effort into the chart, I just used default settings in Excel and changed it to a log scale. Someone with better graphic design skills and more time could/should put this in a more shareable format if they find it interesting.

I onboarded a friend to #lightning and #cashu recently with the @eNuts ⚡️🌰 wallet by paying him back for #pizzastr on Wednesday. He’s been in ₿itcoin and crypto for a while, but had only heard of lightning from me. I thought having something custodial but KYC free would be the best move so he wouldn’t need to worry about channels yet, and eNuts seemed like the best compromise even though the cashu stuff might complicate things a little for him. Do any #nostr clients have a way to block certain hashtags? There’s a few profiles that I would like to follow for their ₿itcoin content and memes, but I don’t want to see their occasional NSFW stuff in my feed. Especially if I’m trying to show off #nostr to a friend. If I could block the hashtags for my own feed that has this content it would let me filter this stuff out. #asknostr
