I LOVE cooking on the fire. Fine weather and weekends see me trying new things to cook on the fire… you win some and lose some! The win this weekend was chicken gyros… cooking the homemade wraps in the fire was super satisfyingg. The “lose” was the upside down apple cake in the Dutch oven. I’ll try again, but the fire was too hot, the sugar burned, the apples all but disappeared! The cake part was ok and ice cream we served on top was great! 🤣😬 I’m a stubborn old thing tho… so I’ll definitely give it another try!

Mmmmmm Sunday

GN. Long weekend here, and lovely Firepit weather… in the absence of proper s’mores ingredients we use dark chocolate digestive biscuits and sub par NZ marshmallows… but it’s still yum. 😋

We use quite a bit of dill in our household and it’s very satisfying to grow it! I have a tiny kitchen garden with 5 dill plants and the dehydrator is full! I’m harvesting in such a way that the plant keeps growing. It will be interesting to see how much we get at the end of the season.

GM I both love and loathe this time of year. As a small retail shop, all my Christmas orders that were placed waaaaaay back in May start arriving. Yesterday 14 big boxes arrived. It means chaos and mayhem whilst I unpack, check off, enter into the computer, price, and then store while I wait for a more appropriate time to put them in the shelf!
