I am relatively new on #nostr. I appreciate being here, what nostr stands for and the open way of communication.
Simultaneously, I am somewhat irritated and surprised about the general consensus of people here seeming to reflexively hate anything remotely āwokeā. Taking aside what the idea of wokeness has recently been co-opted for; At the base being āwokeā simply means being aware: being aware ofā and speaking up to inequalities and injustices within our societies.
Maybe I am so shocked because I somehow thought that, even if one doesnāt experience discrimination first hand, one can and *should* be still able to recognize those inequalities and oneās own privileges. And even if one doesnāt fight actively against their remedy, at the very least acknowledge them and donāt belittle them or even worse: dismiss them as non existent.
Donāt have such fragile little egos, people! Being privileged doesnāt mean that you are a bad person and it sure as hell doesnāt mean that you have a easy life! You can be privileged regarding one aspect and marginalized in another.
Also donāt confuse freedom of speech and āhaving an opinionā with a free pass to overrule other peopleās actual lived experiences on topics you may not have lived experience with. Thatās presumptuous. #introductions
