I don’t understand people that use #nostr but haven’t set up a lightning address for zaps.

Got my dad into #Bitcoin a while ago. Every once in a while he’ll ask “so when am I going to get rich off my bitcoin?” My answer is usually “you already are, most of the world just hasn’t figured that out yet.”

The choice between going debt free and living on a pure Bitcoin standard or taking on leverage to take advantage the failing fiat system is a tough one to make.

It’s really quite simple

I used to think that Jesus was just a successful cult leader. I still feel that he was a man like anyone else. However, he was a man who realized the truth that god is within all of us and makes up all of creation. I identify closely with Spinoza’s idea of god as the force that moves all things. We are all parts of the whole, temporarily perceiving our self through a limited perspective. It is hard to draw any real distinction between ourselves and the world around us. Everyone I try to talk to about this looks at me like I’m crazy. Any thoughts?

The fact that they still make pennies is wild to me

Since the creation of the fed the dollar has lost 99% of its value. This means that any scarce desirable asset you have held over the long term has appreciated greatly in dollar terms, even if it’s true “value” remained the same. If the government were able to tax that unrealized gain they can effectively force you into their failing system by devaluing the currency so much that everyone is sitting on massive gains. “Hey I know that house has been in your family for 3 generations and it’s the only asset you have, but you owe us 500k or we are going to take it from you😊” Taxation is already theft but a tax on unrealized gains makes it even more obvious.
