Daily #4281 Found my flow with this one. That always take a bit of time. In the beginning it always feels unstable. Also finding ways to embrace the looser line and shape quality that I get with the markers. Or perhaps I am more acutely aware of it than I have felt about it than before. image
Daily #4278 Have managed to avoid global news for many weeks now, until today. There's a threshold where an event is so significant that the information breaches my ability to not give it attention. My work provides some space of peace from these events. To embrace this mental space I have decided that I will use all of the washed background pre-prepared pieces until they are finished. There are 19 of them. image
While it may seem naive to think we can collectively demand an end to the global military industrial complex it is also simultaneously irresponsible to allow for a small group of people to consistently direct the vast energy and resources of our single fragile home planet for the purpose of creating tools for death and destruction in the name of security. If you can please think about this in the coming days, weeks and months.
Daily #4277 Eleven days remain before my departure from Berlin to New York. image
Daily #4276 In my there are two works from this years series that loom large: #4252 and #4253. This piece represents to me why it's better to not try to match the quality of those works. image
Daily #4275 Last year the photo was the art with the elements within playing a part in its creation. This year the photo is a rough document of the art. Todays piece feels raw and rough. Perhaps because I was attempting to achieve the opposite. The result is satisfying nevertheless. image
Daily #4274 Spent more time on this one then I expected. The last elements to be added were the petrol colored shapes. image
Daily #4273 Got caught in a gusty rain today. Faired it well. Was in fact rather invigorating. image
Daily #4272 Kept pushing on this one. Now back to reading The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. image
Daily #4270 Metallic colours dominate today in this very acrobatic exercise. image
Daily #4269 In the first three years of doing daily art I would give away the results of the accumulated year. It was one of the reasons I started doing daily art. In 2018 and the ensuing years the materials changed and it was not viable or possible to carry and distribute the work. With this years project I will be able to return to the original purpose of giving away these pieces to people I meet. It feels liberating. image
Daily #4266 This one started out very simple. Was conflicted about pushing it farther. As elements were added it seemed thar it was necessary to add more. It feels less perfect compared to where I wanted to stop. But I feel like I have grown as a result. image
Daily #4265 Remembering a moment at a parking lot a block away from Hollywood boulevard. image
Daily #4264 From the start, with the selection of the first color, the drawing of forms, all of it flowed easily. image
Daily #4263 A conscious reference to #4252 and #4253 in terms of the forms. However those two pieces benefit from a clean background. image
