The US empire has wasted trillions on wars that have done nothing but destroy. Imagine a redo going back to 2001 where instead we focused on building the most competitive infrastructure in the world in our hemisphere through cooperation with neighbors.
For the same price, could we have built high speed passenger and freight rail from Calgary, Alberta to Medellin, Columbia. Open up markets in central and South America and let those areas prosper so there is no incentive for illegal immigration.
Another rail from Seattle to Boston and a third from LA to Savannah. You connect east and west with the richness of the American heartland.
Energy infrastructure from pipelines to SMR nuclear everywhere they make sense. A hardened electric grid. Farmland incentives to return them to local farmers instead of mega corporations. A defense umbrella covering all of North America but no more foreign bases or entanglements. Let the rest of the world trade with us on fair terms. Do not dictate terms through force.
Which storyline would have a more meaningful impact on Americans? We can’t go back to 2001 but we can start now. We don’t need politicians to do most of this. We just need them out of the way of the capitalists.
