A pair of hammerhead sharks depicted in the "Oki National Products Illustration Notes" during the Edo Period in Japan, 1735. Hammerhead sharks are fascinating because they've never been known to fatally attack humans. They often travel in large groups of up to 500 during their summer migration to cooler waters. Their unique hammer-shaped head helps them sense their environment better, but it also means they have smaller mouths, making them less efficient hunters compared to other sharks. image
