Valentine's Day inspired counting activity. We used our number blocks and the sensory counting "cards". Each card has a little tray to put things in. This time we used little hearts and pompoms. At the end she said she wanted to play this again. #montessori #homeschool

Valentine's Day inspired pre-sewing activity. To prepare for the activity, first you choose a shape and draw it on the paper plate then cut it out. Second, use your hole-punch to make holes along the shape. Secure one end of the yarn in one of the holes, and the other end to the needle. When the child is done sewing tie a knot in the same hole she started sewing. #homeschool

We were blessed with good warm weather today so we could spend our day outside. Finally we were able to try our new bug collector (we studied a bee and two roly-polies along with the scavenger hunt items). We studied (with our eyes), touched, smelled, tried to make noises and tasted (the herbs, obviously) the findings. Superduper fun activity. The best part of it? I just had to sit and enjoy the sunshine. #homeschool

Quick and easy activity to improve hand-eye coordination: pasta threading. Draw any kind of shape on your piece of cardboard. (It can be a rainbow, a snake, a letter, a star, etc.) Use your hot glue gun to glue the pasta on the cardboard. Use your hole-punch or a pair of scissors to make a hole. That's where you can secure the yarn. Your child can do the rest. #homeschool

From washing the cookie cutters to decorating the cookies she did (or tried to do) every step of the cookie baking. You can tell she's not a newbie in my kitchen. And @Beefy loved the cookies.

Today my daughter and I made "love potions". We used our recipe cards in order to practice reading and counting. Cleaning up was fun too. #homeschool

Under the sea themed sensory bin. Two bins, actually. First we've learned about corals, sea stars, stingrays and whales - on a preschool level. Then we set up our coral reef using blue rice, colored penne pasta, shells, and animal figurines. My daughter and I created the worksheets together. The colored penne pasta represented the corals that come in many colors. Later today I switched the rice to kinetic sand. This time part of the sand was the "beach". #homeschool

One roll of paper goes a long way! First I secured the paper with masking tape. First paper: we made snowmen/snowman family - my daughter told me how she got upset with daddy this morning and how they resolved the issue -hence the sad snowgirl. Second paper: she just wanted to draw. Third paper: I've made a penguin, torn papers and prepared glue and a brush. She squeezed the glue onto the heart tray. She spread the glue, then together we put the little paper pieces on the penguin. Fourth paper: sort of a DIY tangram. Instead of hard pieces, I've cut felt stickers using paper punch. Skills: creativity, focus, fine motor, hand-eye coordination, emotional intelligence (because we worked on an emotionally heightened situation that's happened earlier that day)

after spending the whole morning outside we decided to keep exploring snow in a muvh warmer environment: inside. we painted the snow with various tools: squirt bottle, spray bottle, pipette, spoon (out paint was colored water). it was fun to see how the snow slowly melted. skills we were working on: hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, hand muscles.

The light table is our most used "toy" lately. Today's reading practice started on the blanket, ended by the windows. This activity's main part was to sound out the letters. #homeschool

This is how we practice pouring, scooping, etc. Let you child make their own food/drink, let them make a mess, get messy, make something that might not taste the best. But for them the feeling of being independent is a game changer. #montessori
