As a non-American and - surprisingly - unlike large numbers of Europeans, I am fully America First - you lot stay out of our business, we'll extend that same courtesy, and every so often we can have a friendly chat about who came up with what without one side forcing their practices on the other.

The trouble with being an individualist or a libertarian is that both the political left and the political right are so hilariously stupid, vicious, and destructive that you have to be the guy who's against most things most of the time because almost every solution those people present is either unsustainable, unfair, exploitative, destructive, or simply meant to be gamed by politically connected actors. And you cannot ignore them either because they will come and take your stuff without ever offering anything but threats.

One sad thing about having been out of school for many years is that I never get to talk about physics and chemistry anymore, all anyone ever talks about is politics and gossip these days.

There is no "non-democratic" socialism, every socialist system has (had) elections and what voters vote for does not matter in the slightest, the primary function of elections is to make large numbers of people believe that the boot on their necks is justified because an allegedly sufficient number of strangers who live within a couple hundred miles of their homes said so - even if they themselves and everyone they know consistently object to it.
