Keir Starmer has just announced that by the end of this parliament no one will be allowed to work in the UK without having a digital ID.
Whilst there are some ludicrous enforcement examples within this scenario (what if my neighbour pays me to mow his lawn?) the concentration and almost inevitable abuse of power when digital identity is combined with a programmable central bank digital currency will be highly destructive to society and the economy. I note that the govt makes and breaks promises all of the time of course, but it does seem to be particularly keen on this one…
I don’t know what you want for your kids/family, but I don’t want mine to be in a digital prison where they need to ask for permission to live.
I normally try to avoid politics (and strictly speaking I think that is a civil and human rights issue not a political issue).
