About what?
Being able to think strategically at a high level is incredibly uncommon for a few reasons.
- it requires holding multiple timeframes simultaneously
- It conflicts with how organizations reward people
- It’s a different cognitive mode than analysis
- People confuse strategy with planning
- It requires comfort with ambiguity
- It’s rarely taught or practiced deliberately
If you want to be successful though you need to get in the habit of thinking strategically.

The world is essentially upside down and has been for a hundred years now. Flipping it right side up again will be extremely painful, but it’s necessary.

Lots of people talk about America being a late stage empire, I believe this is wrong.
My view broadly is that the American republic is dead and we’re witnessing the birth of the American empire.
As an American I am obviously not in favor of this, but am at a loss for how we stop it.
I think about this quite a bit and haven’t come up with any meaningful solutions outside of bitcoin.
How I look at people when they tell me they dumped all their bitcoin for gold.
