> Fidus was a contemporary with the Swiss artist Ferdinand Hodler (1853 – 1918), who was also a representative of the same Zeitgeist.
So... this dude was a Hodler before it was cool.
Fucking hipster.

Got a bunch of raccoons in my garden right now. A day before i wanted to finish the covers for both composts. 🫠
Fidus’ drawing of the Zoroastrian cube of the world (or Cube of Zarathustra):

Mein Zorn ist gerechter Natur.
There's something special about the visual aesthetic and artworks of German print magazines before WW1.

Did 2h of work in our shared garden project, built my own compost sieve, cut down a tree, built and prepped 3 composts in total (1 for the public garden, 2 for me), then sorted and sieved my existing heap into 2 composts.
Enough physical labor for the day.

Sweating like fuck. 🫠

Looks like we’re gonna tune my Canyon bike even more. Instead of just going from 11-36 to 11-42 at the rear cassette, we’re also replacing the 40t chainring at the front (1x) with 42th for some more speed on descents. I’m currently capped at around 65km/h which is already quite fast (especially since I only started riding those descends just a few months ago) but some of my rides would allow for a bit more speed here and there without much additional risk.
New derailleur was already delivered at 60% off. Now waiting for the remainder of the components. SunRace is supposed to build quality cassettes at lower weight on a budget. (And remaining SRAM stock only has black ones which looks meh.)
Also feeling a lot more muscle buildup now that I’m back to more riding frequency. I’ll refrain from using the new easier gearing unless I absolutely need to, since the strain is definitely adding to my overall fitness and pedaling strength.
Maybe… while I’m at it, I might just replace the brake pads with punchier 3rd party ones and throw a RYAD 3d-printed saddle into the mix. About 30% of a new bike.
Only reasons to buy a different bike over the next years come down to: Stock runs out on my older and somewhat unusual component selection, lacking tyre clearance at the rear and those beautiful SRAM brake levers that trickled down from their super expensive RED line to Force last year. I rode SRAM RED for half a day when it came out and brake performance and control are quite the leap compared to my ~2018 Force.
That bike is gonna rip for the time being. It just feels as if Batman would ride it, haha.

> With chief electrician Sharkey making sure everyone was clear, Topsy was fed carrots laced with 460 grams of potassium cyanide by press agent Charles Murray who then backed away. At 2:45 p.m. Sharkey gave a signal and an electrician on a telephone told the superintendent at Coney Island station nine blocks away to close a switch and Luna Park chief electrician Hugh Thomas closed another one at the park, sending 6,600 volts from Bay Ridge across Topsy's body for 10 seconds, toppling her to the ground. According to at least one contemporary account, she died "without a trumpet or a groan". After Topsy fell, the steam-powered winch tightened two nooses placed around her neck for 10 minutes. At 2:47, Topsy was pronounced dead
If there’s a conspiracy theory involving people from the US, Coney Island keeps on coming up and the connections gets weirder and weirder. From weird amusement parks with “travel to the moon in a space ship” attractions, even stranger performances (like public animal electrocutions, some were filmed for later public display in early cinemas) created by various tycoons of the era, World’s Fairs/Expositions featuring much older looking buildings and installations that look more European/Middle Eastern architecture (aka neoclassical and oriental styles), incubator babies, orphan trains, all sorts of secret societies, mysterious “electrical towers” being constructed. Of course Trump’s father also played a role here.
Coney Island is mentioned in various occulted songs, many politicians, Hollywood/music scene people were born there and the connections never really end anywhere and instead, you’re gonna discover even weirder parts of history.
Most interesting was finding out about the Royal Antedeluvian Order of Buffaloes, an obviously Freemasonic offshoot (claiming to be non-masonic nowadays) that was involved in all of the above who somehow quickly managed to start new lodges all over the world - especially right after WW2 in Germany and Japanwith mostly British soldiers being members. After the Korean War, they also had quite a presence in South Korea. They had up to 4000(!) lodges in total.
How to better culturally subvert multiple nations after they lost a war…
