The best argument against Bitcoin is that most people don’t want freedom. They want convenience painted as freedom. They’ll trade sovereignty for ease. They’ll choose apps over holding their keys, yield over custody, and comfort over responsibility. Bitcoin offers none of that upfront. It demands understanding, conviction, and delayed gratification. The point of Bitcoin is to protect purchasing power, the lesson of Bitcoin is to understand that purchasing power is only needed for certain things. Grant, most of us on this group think Bitcoin is great. But Bitcoin doesn’t solve any problems if people don’t spend less than they earn. Bitcoin removes this distortion by rewarding low time preference and aligning personal responsibility with monetary integrity. Are we deluded? Iv thought about that a few times. Iv looked at bitcoin from as many angles as I can. I consider myself to be pragmatic and logical. I’m keenly aware of confirmation bias. I know there are very few absolutes. Iv done well over 10000 hours. Yes number go up is very enticing and so there is a strong sense of hope and optimism to be right about bitcoin. There is also a counter balancing risk that prevents blind optimism and delusion. I have realized how finite my time on earth is, so I’m not going to “risk” it on something that is a metal crutch of delusion so I can pretend everything is going to be okay. I’m also very aware that gambling is a fools choice. One person who has pragmatically studied bitcoin and is completely deluded is more than possible, maybe even two or three. Maybe even a couple hundred. But when you have a thesis that stands up to extreme scrutiny from thousands of intelligent, pragmatic, logical and rational people from all walks of life, man you might wanna get some in case it catches on. @Justin B - solid take!
