I'm so sleepy!
I don't really understand how Activity Pub has such good clients + web FEs, and how polished and nice Bluesky's app + FE at `bsky.app` is. While virtually all of Nostr's clients and FEs are really poorly designed, clunky, buggy, and generally not enjoyable to use.
I really wish I knew how to code/program because I'd honestly love to make a Nostr client in my own image.
There is a lot of content out here that I’m just not seeing. I’m assuming it’s because I’m not subscribed to the relays that these users are on? I’ll browse a profile directory and 90% of the profiles will be devoid of NIP-05 usernames, profile pictures, bios, display names, or posts. But, I can see that my mutuals are following them. So, I’m guessing they certainly exist but that my client just cannot ingest their content because of relay differences? 🤔
I need to get NIP-05 setup for my Nostr existence.
My company can block domain access on my company-issued iPad regardless of location or network connection. On the opposite side of the country on a hotel WiFi connection and my company disallows connections to various domains on this device. Kinda dystopian.
Trying out `nos.social` that nostr:npub1wmr34t36fy03m8hvgl96zl3znndyzyaqhwmwdtshwmtkg03fetaqhjg240 is working on. Got it installed to my company iPad (the only iOS device I own right now). Actually super polished and nice compared to virtually everything else I’ve tried. Very impressed!
Nostr also has a real problem with clients. I haven't found a single client that I can say it necessarily "good". They're all acceptable at best. This is primarily in regards to Android + web clients. I might be moving over to iOS soon, and maybe there exist better clients within the Apple ecosystem.
Nostr has a huge problem with clients, onboarding, user-base + community, among other various issues and "teething pains". However, between Activity Pub and AT Protocol, Nostr is the best technical implementation of a decentralized social network and has the greatest potential.
Want to learn how to write my own code so that I can build an actually good NOSTR client.
Is there a way to set content filters on NOSTR clients? For example, if I never wanted to see or hear the word "bitcoin" ever again.
