These are damaging times for Bitcoin, getting more aligned with Yahtzees for the last several months, starting more or less in Nashville. It could be the worst thing to happen to BTC?

Ok I’m trying OpenVibe. Hooked up some of my socials that are decentralized in one way or another. So far so good. We’ll see how it goes! Maybe we can do sosh medes and be less dependent on broligarchs. (Will this post to each of my connected accounts? I think so. Maybe? Still learning...)

A side effect of monitoring local fires here in L.A. is seeing on the Watch Duty map many prescribed fires around the West. Studies confirm that this strategy helps. The Forest Service has made changes around Rx fires, new approaches launched in 2022, should be helpful over time. Hopefully the incoming incompetents won't roll back these changes, but who knows with the orange clown closet. https://www.fs.usda.gov/managing-land/wildfire-crisis cc @armstrys image
I'm into Bitcoin because I hope we can get to a place without permanent inflation. Inflation has averaged ~ 3% throughout my lifetime. It ends up funneling wealth from wage earners to those with hard assets. There are some other public policies that contribute to income equality, but this is one of the big ones, even though it's but a steady trickle. Pretty sure it's the only trickle that actually moves money and the direction is up, not down. Anyway, I assume people reading like will mostly agree. Feel free to zap me if you do agree ... or if you miss the zapathons.
Transactions that are not for payments are rich nerds noodling with Bitcoin, or somebody trying to scam somebody, or both. Am I missing something?
In your opinion, as of today, which web client (desktop browser) offers the best Nostr UI/UX?
Hot take: Cashu is not well named for becoming widely used. Lightning is. Perhaps more significantly, I don’t yet see a non-cringe-named Cashu wallet. OTOH maybe silly names or appealing to niche audiences is the key to getting off the ground, so what do I know!
For somebody who will be using a custodian, at this point buying an ETF that uses Coinbase seems better than buying BTC on Coinbase.
Why is this place devoid of posts about bitcoin miners? CleanSpark, Iris Energy, Marathon #CLSK #IREN #MARA
Hey, a social media that benefits the users sounds great, I said to myself. I hopped on and learned a lot about the smart things going into this platform. And as the year winds down I’m seeing posts about importance of Nostr. So, sure, I concur. But I’m not seeing posts about how to increase adoption. Maybe people want it to stay niche. But if not, here are some ideas. You may not like these or you may not agree, and that’s fine, but I do not see much discussion about why adoption has not gone up like you want it to, so I hope this helps. Better name than the first 5 letters of nostril Better design Better UI Better UX Better sign up Better sign in Less time making new users figure stuff out And don't make users select between a list of seemingly random relays with weird names
Choose one: a - This social media network sees relatively flat user count during the year 2024 b - This social media network adopts a new name You can only choose one.

On a YouTube ad just a few minutes ago, I saw Michael Saylor say he is raffling off 5,000 BTC and 1,000,000 ETH. Just send BTC to the address at this QR code! I was doing some other stuff at the time, so I only realized it was almost certainly a scam after I stopped seeing the very realistic video intro but continued to hear the audio. Very realistic. I can't imagine how it's not a scam. But then again, I can't imagine how it could be so easy to run scams through Google ads. A massive indictment of shame on Google, is my current conclusion.

Iris Energy shares are up today. If I want to see chatter about that here, what works? #IREN $IREN Or just searching for “IREN” or “Iris Energy”? In any case, seems worry over shares being diluted has been replaced with confidence they will not. (Share dilution. It’s like inflation but often worse and highly capricious and it sure seems like theft in the way Jeff Booth uses that word.)
