Watching all the blowback against @Signal today is making me realize that most people have no idea how end-to-end encryption actually works. Hint: it’s not the same as peer to peer.

GM 🌞 Working on something very fun right now... you're all going to enjoy it very much when it's ready. The only hint I'll give... it's public infrastructure for nostr.

@lah can you give me a list of nostr developers who are interested in cryptography?

There is, however, a very important distinction: Encryption requires no violence to be effective. The goal is to make attack prohibitively expensive and defensive trivially cheap. #bitcoin achieves this, #nostr achieves this, and I believe we achieve this with @White Noise. Unstoppable, open protocols are the ultimate weapon against those who only know how to loot and destroy. image

"I am fascinated by Tim May's crypto-anarchy. Unlike the communities traditionally associated with the word "anarchy", in a crypto-anarchy the government is not temporarily destroyed but permanently forbidden and permanently unnecessary." – Wei Dai If you haven't gone down the rabbit hole of the References in the white paper, you really should. There are some gems.
