> Notice there are not a million new ways of spamming bitcoin, there are just a couple that can be easily filtered. This point is underappreciated by Core v30 proponents who seem to think that there are endless ways to embed arbitrary data in Bitcoin. Filtering the well-known methods will force spammers to come up with ever more complex ways to embed data in transactions, with the natural consequence that the least motivated among them will stop trying doing so. My opinion is that higher level layers that extend the monetary use cases of Bitcoin by using its chain as their data availability system should be able to do so with the current OP_RETURN limits, as shown by Alpen Labs and their Strata bridge - View quoted note →

I'm almost disappointed to say that the Core side really doesn't have good enough points in this debate. Couple that with their dismissive approach to criticism and one is left wondering why should this change be pushed through. Node runners do your own research and choose very carefully whether you should update or not when v30 is released. View quoted note →
