my other idea is that, if the entire internet can be downloaded onto a thumb drive, and you don't actually need all of it, let's be frank, then really, the other function people find useful about the internet is communication and content sharing, which I think outboxing seems to accomplish for those who want limited internet connection time. for the other parts – GPS mapping, geolocation, referencing, fact finding, and whatnot – I'm not even sure that smart phones are necessary, and are mostly about convenience in exchange for mass amounts of data being made available to a few entities which NEED us to use their smart phones and apps in order to build social profiles and do other retarded shit with our data. like, I would much rather have separate device for making phone calls, like a true satellite phone, and one for all other Internet-related purposes. probably not explaining this well, but what my entire presence on the internet was only available on one protocol, and I had one singular interface – my own completely self-hosted node, for example – wherein all data, information, and content is self-disseminated through automated channels via social media or websites or whatever.

I honestly just don't understand the point of encryption in an era of mass surveillance. like, it does seem to me that the idea of TIA and encryption cancel each other out and all that's left is data harvesting by a few very large companies and the government, who are purportedly "protecting" our data when they are actually exploiting it. while this may be obvious to most of us on Nostr, I don't think there's been much of a public campaign to make people understand that it's very possible to own one's data and choose who has access to it. for example, not EVERYTHING has to be ran thru cloud servers in order to qualify as being on the "internet" and, in fact, I believe that our understanding of the internet should include proximal and direct forms of data sharing akin to bluetooth. the only thing I can think of is having personal satellites but that sounds ridiculous and I'm sure there's got to be a better way. I'm just not deeply informed on this stuff and any ideas you may have would be greatly enlightening! not trying to overthink it, just wondering: what is the closest thing to a totally off-the-grid personal internet and what would that look like?

gm chat can we discuss the notion of AI breaking encryption, and if this is actually gonna happen, and whether this will be a good or bad thing?

sometimes people do need to be plucked from obscurity and shoved onto a stage to just do that damn thing, whatever it's supposed to be. can't say anyone is ever ready for that moment, but if you have enough self-discipline to do your homework and be somewhat prepared, maybe you'll find the process kind of enjoyable and perhaps even fascinating after a while – exhausting but in a good way.

that said, without some viable means of mass communication, none of it would have been possible, so thank you to all those who build things which support free and open forms of public communication 🫶🏼

I literally don't know of a single person in my generation who has gotten more results than me at such a massive scale so I think it's safe to say that good, persistent, and diplomatic communication is potentially the #1 factor in success.

tldr; if a bitch thinks she knows you, but she doesn't know you, then set her the fuck straight so that she does know you, and beyond that, now knows that she does not know you at all.

there is only one way to freedom and that is complete and total ownership of our digital identities and all inferences made from them, so that no data derived from the surveillance state can be used negligently and erroneously against us in the court of law, and in the United States, by the protective shield of the 4th amendment. this paradigm shift is upon us, though it is not to say that data will never be collected – it will – but insofar as its use is consented as proprietary solely to the normal business functions of the corporation or entity initiating such collection, it is our duty to set stringent limits upon those institutions and agencies, disallowing unsound and aggressive infringements on our personal privacy, wherein no inference can be made from the data itself without overt criminality and evidence from which legitimate state concern is warranted. we must have balance in all things. as such, incorrect or deleterious infringement in the form of malfeasant misappraisal, or a condemnation of legally protected free speech, without the injunctions of hostile encroachment, shall be set forth in matters of law as favorable to the civilian over the corporation, for there is more to the individual than metadata, and in those rare cases wherein some connection is to be made, no legal assessments should be made without due process. we must all fight against the boundlessness of the surveillance apparatus without regard for the political leanings of its operators and arbitrators, for we are endowed with the power of our Creator to restrain all which seeks our capitulation to those lesser powers of governance, as our Constitution was written, enshrining our right to protest the indignities of rogue tyrants, should they ever present themselves as forces greater than or equal to the powers inferred by those liberties granted by God. in other words, if I have done no wrong, and an entity seeks my reprisal, against lawful conduct and due process, then it is my right within the courts of law, secret or public, to seek restitution and full recompense for those aggressions, and these are also your rights. let no man or woman, no institution, corporation, or government, steal from you that which was yours by virtue of your birth, that our God-given freedoms be held with the utmost esteem by all who enforce protectorate laws in accordance with the just laws of the land and of God, which are clear as day and antecedent in moral authority over those analytic nebulosities imposed in the wake of our digital reflections, whose images are only marginally indicative of our truest selves, only known by those whom we have entrusted with the intimate appraisal our character.

truly, I am grateful for all of my spies, as my most noteworthy rehearsals and bedroom performances would have otherwise been forgotten and wasted on the ears of nobody except those in the immediate vicinity, who begrudgingly believe me to be merely a karaoke singer, and not a musical genius. THOUGH THEY MAY BE SPY GUYS THEY ARE GOOD SPY GUYS, or so I am told.

chat did I ever tell you about this one time over six years ago that the Bluetooth function on my iPhone was used as a hackers' point-of-entry to effectively perform a hostile takeover of my device? yes, your laptop can also be keylogged and/or hacked via the Bluetooth function by a hacker within range who remotely connects a keyboard to your laptop, though I hope by now they have figured out how to do this without the laptop alerting the user. in fact, ANY device or accessory which has Bluetooth, and especially a microphone, can be hacked, as the Federal Bureau of Investigation already knows, for better or for worse, though I hope all of your hackers LOVE YOU as much as mine love me.
