Curious what Nostr thinks about this idea:
A Fedimint module to be a "maker" on JoinMarket. A federation could earn fees (or the forbidden word "yield") on the backing reserves of the Fedimint. Currently the federation's funds do not move unless there is a pegin or a pegout, and the idea would be to put this capital to use in a non-custodial way. Could provide an incentive for running a Fedimint.

New Fedimint FOSS wallet inbound! Still finishing up all the features, like onchain and Lightning Address, but below is a sneak peak at the wallet. Shooting for a release later this summer or in the early fall.
Desktop and Android support, iOS at a later date.
What other ecash or Nostr features should we include? Feedback welcome!

I am interested in purchasing some "smart home" devices for my house, like cameras and sensors. But I'm not really thrilled about using a cloud service or some server that is going to track my data.
Is anyone familiar with any low-friction self-hosted alternatives?
We're doing trivia tomorrow at the Minneapolis Bitcoin Meetup! We will have a mixture of prizes, including a Bit Axe and a Minneapolis branded seed signer.

Welcome
Myself and other open source contributors are building a new Fedimint wallet.
It will support multiple mints, NIP87 mint discovery, and connecting to federations via Iroh. Ideally LN Address and NWC as well.
What should we name this wallet?
On the Fedimint dev call today, we setup a demo federation using Iroh.
Iroh is fucking awesome. It allows each Fedimint guardian to talk to each other via a relay, sets up P2P communication using hole punching, and uses public keys as identifiers (which allows the servers to change their actual IP address).
Everything can run behind a NAT on your laptop or home server. No domain names, no cloud servers, no open ports. It took us just 15 minutes to set one up with zero networking issues.
Distributed systems magic.
My first podcast! I went on Build-a-Mine to discuss all things Fedimint. Check it out

Fedimint needs more wallets! No excuses anymore, the web SDK is here and is stupid simple to use.
