I'm so hyped from meeting Bitcoiners in real life today that I'm not sure I can sleep.
Until today, Bitcoin was purely an online thing and Bitcoiners were Internet strangers.
It suddenly just got a lot more real.

Now how's this for a reading corner? Today I stopped by the @BTCHEL 2026 ๐ซ๐ฎ popup shop while my violin was under maintenance at the shop down the road, and passed some time there. I was given a little tour, picked up some stickers to spread the word, and was very impressed by this cute candy station run by two enterprising young girls. Thanks for having me! ๐

I'm starting to get a few followers here! Thank you everyone for being here and taking an interest in my little account ๐๐๐
Thunderstorm just passed and the sun is setting. GN ๐

Live your life so you can do this at 1pm on a Monday โ๏ธ๐ต๐ฐ

It's been a good week for baking. Today, German-style plum cake made of a sweet yeast dough. Cinnamon adds a touch of spice. Crispy crumble on top adds texture ๐

We have these cool dragonflies zipping around our garden right now and it turns out they let you get pretty close

Reflecting on the Bitcoin journey so far:
About three years ago, I started to teach myself personal finance. I had never had a financial education, and I was starting to notice that it was not as easy to get by as it used to be. I also saw how tiny my pension forecast was and realised I was heading for poverty in old age. On top of that, we were starting a family and buying a house. I started investing in stocks, as all the financial educators were telling me that was the tried-and-tested way to build wealth. I also bought some Bitcoin, but at that time, I still thought it was risky so I played small.
Fast-forward and the interest rate on our mortgage was bumped up. I was further motivated to make my money work as hard as possible. But it was only after my little son was weaned and started sleeping that I really had the attention span to deep dive into Bitcoin. In August last year, I decided to start saving every month in Bitcoin. Since then, I have been gradually selling off all other investments and converting everything into Bitcoin.
The results are clear: the earliest Bitcoin I bought back in 2022 has almost 4x'ed in value. The gains I have made in fiat terms this year alone amount to a quarter of my annual income. It makes the stocks I owned, which didn't even keep pace with inflation, look pathetic.
But I haven't only gained monetary value. For the first time, I have hope for the future that things might actually work out okay. That I might be able to retire one day, without deacdes of work being eroded away. That I can give my son the life he deserves. Now that I've seen what Bitcoin can do, it doesn't matter so much what the price does in the short term; why would I ever go back to trad-fi now? I'm in it for the long haul.
Having a garden makes me feel so blessed. What do you mean I have my own little slice of paradise where I can relax in the sun and fresh air, play with my child and grow my own food and flowers? ๐ป๐ท๐ชป
Our car has broken down so summer has to be enjoyed from home for now ๐

Broken delphiniums from the garden are now decorating the table. They have an ethereal sort of quality ๐ชป

Sold my last two stocks today. Should have done this ages ago
Considering attending my first Bitcoin conference but I'm worried it will be like an extended in-person podcast. What can I expect other than the scheduled talks and is it worth going?
After doing nothing for the first two years, the gooseberry bush I planted is absolutely laden with fruit this year. Anyone know any good recipes? ๐ฌ

Idk if I've quite figured out nostr correctly yet. The majority of posts I'm seeing are almost a day old. Is the pace just slower here or what's the explanation for this sluggishness?
The first homegrown raspberries of the year. This is the Scottish variety Glen Ample, now in its third year and flourishing more each summer

This is a Chinese peony called "Bowl of Beauty". Only got to enjoy it for a short time before it dropped all its petals

The wildflower bed has been busy while we were away. I love the simplicity and vibrance of poppies

Bitcoin still hasn't broken the ATH in euros (which was โฌ105k in Jan 2025)... ๐
The price is currently just short of โฌ102k at the time of writing
In other words, Bitcoin is not skyrocketing so much as the dollar is plummeting in value
After coming home from our trip, the first thing I did was run out to the garden and pick these. First harvest of the summer โ a sweet reward for surviving the long winter and cold, wet spring ๐
