Listened to the All-In podcast interview with Elizabeth Holmes' husband. The tech bro class is going to actually try to convince you Theranos wasn't a scam. I think they'll pull it off, and I soon expect to see a lot of Liz Holmes' whataboutism.

Bitcoin hedge wizard. Do not consult me unless as a last resort.
GM. I love you.
There is still no practical, material reason anyone should self-custody their bitcoin. It's just an ideological LARP that gets a lot of ypur dummy frens rekt.
The fucking question has garnered 50 replies. Nostr doesnt even have 50 users.

Is anyone CONCERNED that such a simple question requires such a massive HANDLING of the situation by non-professional bitcoin forks? Could it be that bitcoiners don't really know what the fuck to do about self-custody?

Isn't it hilarious to trigger bitcoiners with a simple question?
There is no practical, material reason to advocate for self-custody. In all cases, you are diminishing the public profile of bitcoin by advocating for self custody. Why?
1. It's absolutely harder than any other bitcoin ownership model
2. The loss scenarios of custodial bitcoin require zooming out behind the last 6 years when bitcoin was actually, largely UNREGULATED, which libertarians hate to admit.
3. Bitcoiners are allergic to bad news. They hate that ypu demand their stupid, flighty, ideological demands be called I to account.

Hey, inveterate bitcoin ideologists! Give me, a theoretical noob, one good practical, material reason to self-custody. How does it improve my life? Does it reduce time or effort? Does it pay me yield?

The reason I don't recommend self-custody to newbs is not because I think self-custody is a bad idea in general.
I don't recommend it, because hardware wallet manufacturers are lazy and haven't solved any of the recurring problems with their self-custody model since 2016.
