Michael Saylor repeats this phrase like a mantra, and the crypto community mocks him for it. They point to Ethereum’s smart contracts, Solana’s speed, or the latest Layer 1’s revolutionary consensus mechanism. Surely there must be room for more than one winner in the digital asset revolution?
They’re missing the point entirely.
Saylor isn’t talking about technology. He’s talking about money. And money, throughout all of human history, trends toward a single standard. Not because of conspiracy or coercion, but because of network effects so powerful they reshape entire civilizations.
