What ChatGPT returned about parallels between culture and biofilms when considering their impact on human beings and societies: Adherence and Persistence: Just as microorganisms in a biofilm adhere to surfaces and persist, cultures can become deeply ingrained in the lives of individuals and communities. People often adopt the values, beliefs, and practices of their culture and pass them down through generations, creating a strong sense of continuity and identity. 1. Protective Matrix: Similar to the extracellular polymeric substances that protect microorganisms in a biofilm, culture provides a protective framework for individuals within a society. It offers a set of norms, rules, and shared understandings that guide behavior and interactions, providing a sense of security and order. 2. Diversity within Unity: Biofilms can contain diverse microorganisms that work together within the same matrix. Similarly, cultures often encompass diverse groups of people with varying backgrounds, yet they can coexist and contribute to the overall fabric of a society. This diversity can lead to cultural richness and innovation. 3. Resistance to Change: Both biofilms and cultures can exhibit resistance to external forces that seek to disrupt them. Cultures can resist external influences and change, which can be both an advantage for preserving tradition and a challenge when adaptation is needed. 4. Adaptation and Evolution: While biofilms adapt to changing environmental conditions, cultures also evolve over time. They can absorb elements from other cultures and adapt to new circumstances, demonstrating flexibility and resilience. Does anyone have other things they can share about the parallels between biofilm and culture? #evolution #science #asknostr

Signaling continued decline of US global hegemony, the White House (the President?, God knows) demands, like Pompey stamping his foot, with expectations of legends springing forth from the ground to execute his demands. Thus what happens when the leaders accept deals that the people don’t. #news #politics

What is the thinking on this feed about which came first, the individual or the species? And what exactly is evolving in complexity, our understanding or reality? #USA #creationism #evolution #science #atheism

Telling me something you think I should know is not as helpful to me as sharing the way you think that information makes change in the world. What say you nostrs? #asknostr #nostrpleb

I don’t believe the complexity that emerges from potential really something drawn into being by God, or an unmoved mover. There is another way to understand how such complexity came into being without intelligence nor intent. That which emerges from our connections with others is the unpredictable consequence of what surrounds us. How much agency do we really have to select with what we surround ourselves? #evolution #asknostr #nostr #bitcoin

Alternate facts threaten the status quo only when they start making sense to a growing number of adherents. That doesn’t make them true or false, that makes them a threat. The status quo is always an obstacle to growing. #nostr #evolution #bitcoin

I can no longer understand the outcomes of collective human action as being driven by anything other than individual belief - through all the ways nature has for instilling and manifesting belief. These outcome, and our history, are not driven by collective intent or intelligence. The concept of individual intelligence using information to precipitate an intended outcome does not generalize to a concept of a collective intent. The sum of individual intents at work is enough to result in our un-intended and unintelligent outcomes. Not that that is a bad thing. It makes the world much more interesting as we orient to those things worthy of belief. Why do you believe things are as they are? #asknostr

I think there is a bigger story here than ProPublica reports. When the people sue the state, are they suing themselves? Perhaps the state’s attorney general is to provide defense, but what if the attorney general sides with the people? lt seems to me that when honest people are given a choice between justice and law things start changing. The process works when the law (stability) becomes so weak, people are permitted to act instead with their own understanding of justice. It is not good or bad thing, it is a thing. #news #politics #asknostr [
