We have been thinking a lot about decentralized moderation recently. That term evokes a lot of emotion, so we took some time to write up our vision and the principles behind it. If your client displays long-form notes then you should see it below. Otherwise you can read it on the web here:

Our vision for what moderation should look like on Nostr, and what the next steps are for us to get there.
Build 38 of Nos is out! This one has reposts and I finally feel like the performance is in an acceptable place. Curious to hear feedback anyone has on that. (there is a database cleanup script that will run the first time you launch this build, so give it a minute before you judge). Next week we'll be working on autocompletion of mentions and DMs!

We can’t spell BUGS without U, especially in Open Source culture 🐞🙇🏽… here’s the latest update on the #Nostropical Hackathon’s Community Voting winner.
Because we conducted the vote transparently on Nostr some users were able to check our work and found different results for the winner. After triple-checking with community members, we indeed found & regret an error in our initial tabulation and announced the winner of the Community Vote. See the image below for the updated correct tabulation.
As noted here…
https://iris.to/note1gct35x084r3l5elv0xyr88v6qc0mn2shcxyyaqdsdngl9h5fa2cqyrgtx6
… it was a neck-and-neck two-way race between:
NostrFollower by #[0]
and Incognito by #[1] #[2] & #[3]
We want to make this right for both teams. So we *added* a Community Vote prize award for 2nd place!
Here’s the correct tabulation for the Community Vote:
1st Place: Incognito - 25,000,000 sats
2nd Place: NostrFollower - 12,500,000 sats
We are sorry for the error, and we are very grateful to this open transparent software culture!
Congrats to both 1st and 2nd place award Community Vote winners!

And the winner of the #nostropical hackathon's community choice award, and 25,000,000 sats, is the Nostr Follower DM Tool by #[0]. Congratulations!
Nostropical Hackathon Winners & Voting
The Nostropical hackathon took place on March 22 and March 23 on the two days following the Nostrica conference. It was organized as an autonomous satellite event by Hard Yaka, Universal Names, and Nos.Social. For two amazing days, participants gathered at the Awake Center in Uvita, Costa Rica and built a dozen projects aimed at forwarding our shared mission of building the nostr ecosystem.
We are grateful and inspired by all of the individuals and teams that participated and the projects that were born out of this shared time together.
We will be judging the projects as follows:
The 100,000,000 Satoshi prize is divided into three pools.
Judges Selection: 25,000,000 Satoshi
Community Voting: 25,000,000 Satoshi
Completed & Presented Project: 5,000,000 Satoshi
The community vote winner will be chosen by the same algorithm we use in nos.social to address spam and highlight relevant content. It’s a friends of friends algorithm. If you’re followed by somebody who is followed by somebody who participated in the hackathon then you can vote. No new followers after this post will be counted. To vote like the reply about the project following this post. It’s approval voting, vote for as many projects as you’d like, but we’ll only count one vote per project per npub. The voting ends at noon UTC Tuesday March 28th.
Watch the presentations here*:
* Not included in the video is the very secretive privacy focused Incognito project which is cool and fixed the problem of leaking metadata private messages on nostr.
The winning judges choice project is nostr torrent!
A Content Addressable Media NIP for sharing files on nostr.
The project proposed and implemented a system of content addressable networking using hashed content, plus the ability to support both CDN and web torrents for linking to and hosting rich media and files.

The other projects open for voting are listed here as comments. You can vote for a project by liking it in the thread, and you can vote for as many as you want (but only once per project). If you vote for everyone, it's the same as voting for none. Only npubs within two hops of a hackathon participant will be eligible, in order to prevent gaming of the system. Votes will be read from the following relays:
